Steve Evans refused to deny that other job offers were coming his way amid claims that a rival Championship club have approached him about managing them next season.
Evans’ representatives are understood to have been contacted by the owner of a second-tier side last week with the 53-year-old rapidly nearing the end of his contract at Leeds United and the Elland Road club looking increasingly likely to replace him in the summer.
Evans’ claim to a new contract at Leeds – extending his initial deal which runs out at the end of June
He's a walking talking PR machine alright. The best self publicist I have ever seen. Who are his people anyway?. Sounds like he has some entourage sweeping the floor before him.
Id suggest he was heading for major heart problems had he not lost weight combined that with the stress of being a successful manager. And yes he did bring in some very good players, but also dumped some very good players and brought in some duffers too, quite a few duffers.
With respect to the success he brought to us, I was never comfortable with him as manager and was not at all bothered when he went ( I share Smilers sentiments on this point)
He's not moved Leeds any further than they were and they have been pretty inconsistent. I cant see them in a top 10 finish as he predicted, so I cant see many Championships clubs waiting to snap him up as the write up seems to imply.
i have took from a leeds fan site its called I hate Leeds oh the irony lol
Steve Evans would go on to claim after another dismal defeat that Leeds didn’t deserve to lose the game, suggesting that even a draw would have been unfortunate. That was subject to Bellusci and Silvestri combining beautifully at the back to gift 3 points to the home side. Not that I can criticise Marco too much, it really was Peppe’s suicidal overhead-kick missed clearance which put the nail in the coffin.
Evans: "We should have come away with a draw, and even that would have been harsh. To lose like that is so cruel." #lufc
Leeds had more of the ball, more shots, more of everything, basically. But you’d expect that when you’re 13th playing against 20th. A 20th side who needed to play for a third of the game with only 10 men. The real problem is that Leeds simply aren’t able to win games like this.
Steve Evans again opted for a strange tactic, where you load the field with central midfielders (Diagourga, Bridcutt, Cook and Mowatt) and opt to play two of them as wingers. Unsurprisingly this was ineffectual. Having seen Leeds fail to gain a meaningful foothold on the first half and presumably exhausting his tactical nous by shouting at them during the interval, the team was unchanged for the second half. You know what happens when you don’t change something that isn’t working? It continues to not work.
13 minutes later sense prevailed as wingers were introduced, only they were done so at the cost of our more attacking-minded midfielders. Bridcutt and Diagouraga remained in central midfield to add some rigidity to the shape while Dallas and Carayol were used to add width, but in taking Cook and Mowatt off meant there wasn’t really anyone to support or supply the wingers.
Matt Derbyshire was handed a straight red for having the bravery to elbow Gaetano Berardi in the face, presumably dismissed not for the foul but for his own safety. The Swiss mentalist punched the turf repeatedly, before lunging at the referee, blood draining from a cut over his eyebrow. Most sides would consider a man advantage over one of the league’s lowest placed sides to be an invitation to win the game. Alas, Leeds United 2016 are not such a side.
Granted, Luke Murphy did score (that’s right, after Berardi went off we had Murphy, Bridcutt and Diagouraga on), though only because of a monstrous deflection that totally wrong-footed the goalkeeper. I’m quietly waiting for Steve Evans to take credit for that somehow, as he does every other moment that has happened since he arrived.
Any defender worth more than a single Cadburys Freddo should head this pedestrian cross to safety. Peppe, however, has a signature move that includes attempting an overhead kick with a 2% chance of contact. He employed this move and it wasn’t very effective. This landed Marco Silvestri in a difficult position where he’s forced into making a 1-on-1 save which is not his forte. This meant that not only was a penalty awarded, but Silvestri was handed a straight red card and with no reserve goalkeeper on the bench, our very own Peppe Bellusci stepped into the nets.
2-1.
The stats might tell you one thing, but this was another very poor performance. Rotherham were willing to absorb pressure and let Leeds come at them, yet tactically we never had the right combination of players on the pitch to make that happen. Once again, we’re sat here lamenting our poor defence, poor goalscoring and poor tactics. With unnamed other Championship sides interested in Steve’s services I’m not worried if he leaves.
Leeds still look unfamiliar with simple defensive duties and still incapable of capitalising on opportunities.
And for all Steve’s boasting about Leeds form since he took over, from January 1st 2016 to today we’ve won 16 points from 14 games. That’s 1.14 points per game and good for barely 52 points a season. Not enough to relegate you, but good for 17th or so. If this level of effort is “good enough”, then something is desperately wrong.

Interesting read that. Many is the time I have heard Evans claim how we have battered other teams when we have had 40% possession and hardly a shot on target. This time they had loads of possession but in truth until we were down to 10 men very few opportunities. Their fans didn't think much of his substitutions and they let him know it. I must say that I was pleased when he took Mowatt off - for me he was far and away their best player. And he certainly doesn't find it easy to pick genuine wide players. We had a string of wingers who were signed by Evans but never got a look in while strikers or midfielders were preferred in wide areas, and then they moved on. Evans has done ok at Leeds but no better - they seem to be treading water.
What is wrong with you unappreciative lot ? I've never seen such hostility and name calling to a Rotherham United manager who just did his job by getting us into the championship, totally ungrateful, that's what you are. If he'd failed and we were still languishing in Div 2 then yes, I could understand it. But you lot are so blind to the achievements of our ex manager, it's affecting you, you're unbelievable. You just want to continue with your insults to an ex manager who did exceptionally well for us. Total failures like Andy Scott never got the treatment you 're dishing out. You call yourselves Rotherham United fans ? You should be ashamed of yourselves. Hillsbrough Miller you ought to get to your Doc's, you need treatment. I reckon you're all related to Zil Zal !
There's really only observations on all the posts on this thread and I cant see any untruths in any of them, all of which are based on what he is reported to have said in the original link. I think all are fair comment.
I dont think anyone on this site is daft enough not to recognise what was achieved under his stewardship, but quite a few, myself included were uncomfortable with the way he went about it, and I think it is quite acceptable to say so. The debate could, if allowed, be endless but for my pen'orth, I found his recruitment, retention and rumours of his treatment of players not to my taste, and frankly I believe that was the view of the squad at the start of the season. I could go on, but it is enough to say I was glad he went, with respect to his 'achievement' and he now seems to be applying the same tactics which are being reported in the article shown above. The same tactics which are achieving very little at his new club.

I can't see where I have ever been insulting to him Shytalk.
As I have said on previous occasions, as far as I am concerned I don't think that anyone with his history should be allowed to be at the head of any football club and myself I never wanted him in and was pleased when he went. That is a purely personal view based on the facts about his history and my own values and the ones I would want my club to have. He could have won every game and taken us into Europe and I would still not have wanted him at the helm. I also happen to think he isn't a very good manager for any club that wants anything other than a short term boost and that is willing to back him, but that is less important to me than the main point made earlier.
I think that if SUFC are desperate to get up from League 1 next season and if they are willing to back him and overlook his past then he would probably achieve that goal for them. But I don't have any time for him myself. I don't suppose that bothers him over much.
I am certainly not ashamed of having my principles, and don't know why that would exclude me from calling myself a Miller. I accept that others have different views and that is fine - or does being a Miller mean that I have to sign up to a certain set of values other than my own?
