To have any chance of staying up

We need to have all players available for selection every game.

Boy did we miss Wood and Halford yesterday. I can't believe I am saying this, but I think I also prefer Richardson at right back (apart from Buxton but that ain't going to happen).

We haven't got a right back unless Doyley is. But he's more a defensive player, a right back 1st as got to be able to defend but as got to be able to get forward. What's Belaid done wrong? I'd say he's 4th choice centre back after Broadfoot, Wood & Halford.

To improve chance of staying up: Collins & Green not again not even on the bench. Get a right back in. Newell 1st choice on the left.

We have nee crying out for better full backs for season after season we have only ever had OK players.

Lafferty and hunt are the required standard for us and this league.

Although three in eight minutes on Saturday was hard to predict, we have always got a goal in us and have had most of the season. I think only three times have we failed to score in a home game, and one of those was QPR when we created a sack full of chances. We have scored more goals than Brum, Preston, Leeds, Forest and Reading as well as most around us at the bottom, and only one less than Ipswich.

The problem all season has to my mind been twofold - firstly an inability to keep the ball and control the pace of the game at times, and secondly straightforward rank bad defending at other times. Often individual errors. We can all think of a few without trying too hard. We have given far too many 'soft' goals away.

I still think NW has yet to solve the first problem, and in truth he might not have the personnel to do it. So we rely on hard work when we don't have the ball.

As far as the second problem is concerned, he has reverted to experienced defenders defending deep so their very obvious lack of pace is not too exposed and good organisation. The wheels came off a bit against Derby with further stupid mistakes, but somehow we managed to get the point anyway.

In short, the key to staying up in my opinion is to keep defending better. Keep a few clean sheets and we have a goal or two in us, and will get enough points in the bag.

....just to add, to that extent I agree with you Oneaday - to get the wins we need we need disciplined defending, and so we need our best defenders available.
