Exellent initiative by Udders, following Bradford's example. We couldn't do it however, how the hell could we waste money on 450 loan midfielders & pay the "technical committee" if we reduced prices??
Also, just a question. Why do you, as a Brentford fan, like posting on a rival clubs forum? Is it as I suspect, the prelude to loads of gloating when you beat us tomorrow?
Good on Huddersfield, but their situation and ours are different. They have a ground with a 25,000 capacity that is half empty most weeks. A bit like Bradford. If they have done their homework and know that they will sell 20,000 season tickets by cutting the price in half, they have the same financial outcome (in fact better because they are getting the money all up front), a better atmosphere at matches, a bigger fan base to sell food, drink and merchandise to, and hopefully they are getting youngsters in who will keep going back for years to come.
Commercially we don't have the same incentive because we are only two or three thousand shy of capacity every week. The economics don't add up.
A message to Messrs Stewart and Douglas - if we are serious about building a club for the future, what about adding the extra capacity now to make it 16,000 and then dropping the season ticket prices to something like Huddersfields to make sure we fill it week in week out? Rewarding true fans, giving us a bigger stadium to be even more proud of, giving us the extra capacity we hope we will need one day anyway, building the fan base, generating all the additional revenue and guaranteeing a big attendance week in week out.
As much as I like the idea, there is nothing to suggest the Rotherham public will support an idea. The years of inadequate off field neglect to its locale has taken its toll, and although the club are making strides in fixing that, it will take many years to rectify. We couldn't fill 15k if it was half the price because the interest is not there. We need to remember Bradford is a large city, Huddersfiled is a very large town isolated, Rotherham as always live in the shadow of at least 3 larger football clubs. We are what we are (for the foreseeable future)
