2 huge games: Reading and Brentford

Fine, we blew it last time we had the chance against Charlton and Bolton but now is the time.

Reading and Brentford are both near the bottom of the form table with us. It's a good time to be playing them both. Let's make it count, go at them and get four points.

Four points would put us well back in the mix.

We need more than four points. We need to win the next two games and the teams above us to falter at the same time.

We then need to go on a run without being defeated.

In this league that's a very tall order.

I wish I could be more optimistic about our chances of survival.

Having said all that I will still be following the Millers until the very last kick of the ball at season's end.

Four points would be fantastic. Anything at Reading would be a bonus. I don't like the phrase 'must win game' but Brentford is getting close to being one. Home games against lower and mid table teams must be our best chance an there aren't many of them left.

I havent thrown the towel in but Im starting to think 'what the hell'.

It might just be the attitude the players need...

We've thrown away too many points to teams around or below us all season, these were the games we needed to get points from anything else was/is a bonus but the first game of the season seemed to set the bench mark for what was to follow most of the season, sadly.

It sounds daft to say it about the first game of the season Towdlad but that MK Dons match was so important for us. It was, as you rightly say, a bench mark. It was one of the strangest games of football I have ever witnessed. Never have eleven footballers looked so nervous and inept. We missed three absolute sitters when it was 1-1, all gifted to us by them giving us chances on a plate with bad back passes, and defensively from us it was one of the worst displays I have ever seen. MKD had four shots on goal and they all went in. It was all they needed. When their third went in our players' heads went down and they started pointing fingers at each other and the crowd started getting restless. Halford kicked it straight into Thorpe's face from five yards away and blamed Thorpe for it. Collins sliced one under Roos for an own goal. Before half time Roos looked like he wanted to be anywhere but on that pitch. He could hardly kick the ball never mind catch it. Evans was shaking his head and waving his arms round a lot. All the talk of quality not quantity and being mid-table looking up looked very hollow very quickly. At that point it looked like we were in for a long, hard season. That is not being wise after the event - I remember very vividly having a horrible realisation there and then that it had all gone very pear shaped. It still keeps me awake at night thinking about it.

I wasn't there smiler but I remember being horrified at the result. Losing is one thing but losing that badly on the first game, well, you've said it all. I've said it before but the die was cast during the summer before a ball was kicked in anger. 'Quality over quantity' oh how that remark is haunting us, anyway I'm trying my best to stay positive..............just!

We can still do it Towdlad. Keep the faith. Five points behind MKD and we still have them to play. The other thing I remember about that game is saying that even though they beat us 4-1 they were actually garbage and we would finish above them come the end of the season. I hope they finish 22nd and that I am proved right!
