Reflections After Burnley

It was always a tall order. We shouldn't be too downbeat just because of that result. We have the same chance of staying up as we did before yesterdays game. We worked really hard and made Burnley work hard for the win. It was a soft penalty to give away and a schoolboy error diving in on the edge of the box. Having said that on another day they would have taken other opportunities they created. We offered nothing at all in attack. We made one chance and it was a golden one at a time when we could have stolen a point if it had gone in. Danny Ward, like Lee Frecklington, is running out of goodwill for his frequent injuries. You are paid to play and if you are never fit - unlucky or not - you are no good to us. It is harsh but true. Burnley is a proper football club and I hope they go up.

Some good points there smiler, and so much truth in the point about there being no room for sentiment for players who cannot, for one reason or another, do the job they are employed to do.

There have been many factors which have dictated our season, three managers, three styles, god knows how many players in then out, wasted budget and not least the ever growing sick and injured list, particularly to those who were brought in to improve the team - very disappointing.

As you say we are in the same place we were in before yesterdays game and I can only hope that NW can work his spell pretty soon otherwise our fickle fans may start yet another witch hunt. In retrospect, when all's said and done, its my opinion the die was cast during the summer of quality over quantity.

at the beginning of the season I said I fancied us to be mid-table,based on decent sounding signings and the hope they would gel.disbeliefdisbelief.

Roll on next season and let's see how wrong I can be about that.
