Talk about a change of direction. Planning for the future, bringing youngsters through, long term thinking. The Kenny signing is baffling. Camp hasn't always been that convincing but will Kenny be in ahead of him? I doubt it. I would have thought we would have sat with what we had and maybe brought in a keeper on emergency loan if needed. Doyley - he might be or have been a decent player. Is he better than what we have got? I don't know. He is the latest in a series of 30+ year old defenders. In a league that is all about pace and athleticism there is still room for experience but we can't have a team full of old pro's. I fear that we have lost our way. Not the fault of the individual players concerned. NW has come in after a transfer window has just closed and has had to rely on finding free agents and maybe the odd loan to shore things up. Sounds familiar doesn't it? We have gone from a mantra of 'quality not quantity' last June to now having a bloated squad full of older players who are past their best. Evans got it terribly wrong and it has snowballed from there because the timings of the managerial changes has been horrible. At this moment I am slightly depressed about it, but all we can do is get behind them and hope for the best.

Agree totally smiler . I know im only a season ticket holding supporter who goes to as many games as I can possibly get to who obviously know's nowt about football and the mechanics of running a club but I can see that with every signing we make it seems to be panic there seems to be no future plans , none of the player's being brought in have to prove anything they wont be playing for a contract for next season there is no affinity with us all that happens is they pick wage up wether they play or not . Feeling demoralised and depressed at moment .COME ON YOU MILLERS .

Len - that resonates with me totally. Whether we stay up or not the only two players who I would say have progressed and become better through the season are Joe Newell and Grant Ward. They will be better next season than they were this. Unfortunately Grant Ward does not belong to us. You could argue that Danny Ward, JCH and Smallwood have been ok in fits and starts and are young enough still to improve. Excluding loan players the vast majority of the rest are at the tail end of their careers, or on a downward curve. That applies to Camp, Kenny, Buxton, Richardson, Kelly, Wood, Collins, Broadfoot, Halford, Doyley, Green, Derbyshire, Becchio, Best. I am adding Frecks because there is no doubt that injuries have slowed him down. That is a very long list and I might even have missed some. Whoever is the next manager on the conveyer belt, he is going to have to have a massive clear out and start again in the summer whatever division we are in. We can't keep re-booting and starting again forever. It is a very sorry state we are in.

Personally I think the board and much vaunted Technical Committee have a lot to answer for.
Some of their decisions this season have been absolutely woeful and we are now reaping what they have sown.
So much for "different directions!"

Forgot Jerome Thomas. I just checked and hadn't realised Frecks is 30 himself. Derbyshire is 30 in April. We have fifteen contracted players 30 or over, plus Derbyshire about to be, plus Burke (32) on loan. There is nothing wrong with a bit of experience in the blend, but that is ridiculous isn't it? Evans signed way too many past their best players on short deals plus kept on some who were already past their best. Redfearn and Warnock have then been forced to get in free agents and loans due to windows having closed and having no more money to play with, thinking they needed experience to get us out of a hole. Is there any plan at all apart from panic and hope for the best, then think about next season come June? I am not criticising Warnock by the way. He is doing his best to meet his remit. Not criticising the players either. They can't be faulted for taking deals when offered and on the whole they have done their best. But we are looking a bit shambolic.

No doubt there are lots of great players well over 30 Happy. You just can't have a team full of them at once.

That would be a fair enough mix but I doubt that will be the side we play. Warnock showed a preference for experience last week and I can't see it being much different tomorrow. We'll see. We need a bit of luck and a bit of magic from somewhere. Up the Millers!

ps. If your possible starting eleven is what he goes with T71 the bench will look like the set of Coc oon (space inserted to avoid asterisks). What would it be? Kenny, Richardson, Collins, Doyley, Green, Burke, Best.  Average age - pensionable.

Warnock our manager who's job it is to keep us up obviously feels experience is the way to do it. It's not his job to plan for the future to have a long time goal. We have a manager who has been there and done it but of course we all know better. Perhaps we should have less experienced younger players in but it's not what he has chose. And thinking about it if I'm going into battle do I want the young up and coming youngster at my side or the battle hardened warrior! Chaaaarge utm
