After the long dark Months of December and January , February arrives with Fate on its wings.
The long endured battles and training via the harsh winter when body and mind are natural enemies fighting in perpetual twilight gives way to an alternative narrative where winners and losers are brought out in to the light. Regrets surround those who laboured with ill intent and gorged on sloth , while Spring Joy is already felt in the hearts of those who stuck faithfully to the task at hand. One cannot enjoy the harvest without tilling the land.
The official results of week 30 have not been published yet, but I bring, Hitherto as a warning. Not one manager toiled to a win. All the advantage in the world cannot cover up ineptitude as Exeter would say. Despite being able to choose a winner from 24 and use a bonus to triple points all the hapless lemmings simply walked off the cliff leaving only a sensible and hardy few to lament on their behalf. Thankfully, mortal death was avoided this time , but A valuable 10 points will be deducted tomorrow evening from their hard earned gains.
Despite this, I have no doubt that human nature will once again triumph over the evolving but not yet perfect rational mind. Where logic sees peril the primitive mind sees adventure and the promise of easy pickings.
So, without further ado here is this weeks Venus fly trap.
Ive made it a little easier or shall we say, even more tempting this week.
Home wins are more than 2-1 more likely to happen than away wins and Draws account for over a third of results in the Championship. Indeed, you may, or may not be surprised to learn that the championship has 9% more draws than L1, 6% more than L2, and 4% more then the EPL.
So, it just could not be easier and more obvious. Basically. now you know what the ratio of your predictions should be...
...so, place UP TO 3 Bonus cards against any draw that you predict (for some of you that never predict draws this may be a challenge too far).
Each successful draw with a Bonus cards earns you 30 points extra. For each draw you predict that ends in a win or loss result you are docked 10 points. N.B. Draws do not have to be exact, i.e. 1-1 when the actual result was 0-0 still counts for the bonus.
The Math:
a bonus of 90 extra points in possible.
a loss of 30 points is possible.
one success from 3 would still give you a bonus of 10.
Remember you can use UP TO 3 Bonus cards. But, you may also use 1 or zero. The choice as they say is yours.
1. QPR 1 V Fulham 1 Bonus
2. Blackburn 1 V Hull 1 Bonus
3. Brighton V Bolton
4. Bristol City 0 V Ipswich 0 Bonus
5. Charlton V Cardiff
6. Derby V MK Dons
7. Forest V Huddersfield
8. Reading V Burnley
9. Millers V Birmingham
10. Wednesday V Brentford
11. Wolves v Preston
Monday 15th February
12. Leeds V Middlesbrough
Tuesday 16th February
13. Blackburn V Fulham
14. Hull V Brighton

Light training this week and then a five a side session Friday morning just to sharpen up the team. The team has been set up to gain ground on the table toppers.
The results get harder to predict each week as we near the last few weekends and the eye of the storm.
This weeks Bonus selections caused all manner of manoeuvring and last minute shenanigans . Andy , opted for a few stretching exercises in the week before the game, while, Exeter took his squad to the Hebrides for a full on survival course.
Oneaday, maintained the professionalism and glossy performances by taking in the ballet and opera perofmances in Paris.
The usual suspects were down the "Fog and lost n found" for a few pints.
It all culminated in a fascinating week of top class entertainment. Here are the results:
S8: 36+60-10=86
Oneaday: 41+30-20=51
MMM: 36+30-20=46
Exeter: 23+30-20=33
TLA: 30
Andy:28
GHF: 19
Unifier=2
Worcester:20-30=-10
Ian:17-30=-13
There were 5 drawn results in total.
So, A huge win for the chasing S8 as he hunts down the inexplicable Oneaday. Others such as Exeter , Andy, TLA and GHF made decent gains and the question of was it better to gamble of stick remains unresolved. Huge losses for Ian and and Worcester suggest the shocks will keep coming.
