A hint of disappointment. Maybe even anger in between those well thought out words?
One thing your very good and clear writing suggests is that there is already a man in the wings. I'm not saying you know this but the timing is not that of a club who suddenly decided it wasn't good enough. It's a decision that says we just had confirmation our man is interested but we need to get rid of the current employee before we negotiate any further. To take such a chance suggests it's a man on paper that 's worth taking that risk with.
It is totally inappropriate for Richard Stewart or anyone else in a position of power at any club to be tweeting personal opinions on football matters. That should stay private. It is a short step from that to the directors picking the team. Like that son of Sullivan at West Ham who sets the agenda with his tweets. It undermines the manager (whoever it is at the time). TS should have a word about it.
Its a shame. I think 3 or 4 seasons in the less cut throat L1 and Redfearn will make something of himself. He has the right philosophy on the training ground, I like his youth and pathway ethos (which will be massive when we exit the EU). But on the pitch it was terribly short. So many things wrong (albeit would prob be different had Kelly & Best not crocked themselves). But still Danny Ward a lone striker?, G Ward has produced his best out wide and coming in off the flanks, not scrapping off the lone front man, as good as Newell is I don't think we've got the best out of his incredible ability, Smallwood & Green should never be in the same team and its their failings that contribute to us having a defence that is unable to keep a clean sheet. The negativity overall, has probably cost us 15 points and that cannot stand in the position we're in. We have for the most part a group of players that should see us through, but if we don't get someone who is able to better utilise our benefits we're screwed.
Sorry Ex but I can't help myself. We weren't negative under Redfearn. We had more efforts on goal per game than most teams and scored more goals per game under him than we did last season. I think thirteenth most in the division this season and higher than that over his tenure. Sometimes (not always) we tried to set up to counter attack. That isn't a negative tactic. If it is, Leicester must be sick of Ranieri's negativity. They play one up front most of the time, get nine men sometimes ten behind the ball and generally have far less possession than the opposition. The bottom line is that our inability to stop giving stupid goals away has been costing us. We were shocking against Charlton, it is true, but again ironically it was actually them hitting us on the counter while we committed men forward that cost us. You obviously feel quite strongly that Redfearn was negative and so it seems do many others, and I respect that view but I don't want that line to pass into folklore unchallenged, because I just don't think it is fair or right.
