Unbelievable Geoff. So we are going to get a new manager in after the transfer window has closed, let him look at the team for a few weeks and then tell us the players arnt good enough. I can do that, where's the application form?
Well, we have the biggest Millers news in ages and TTB is nowhere to be seen. Anyone would think he was a two bit chancer rather than somebody in the know about all things Rotherham.
Gobsmacked on the face of it. But the 3 games I saw last month the negativity was unacceptable been a long time since being embarrassed to be a fan. We have the players, with the right application we can get out of this mess.

This has been one depressing season. We were simply awful against Derby, Ipswich, Huddersfield, Fulham and QPR and failed to get anything against some poor sides in this league like Blackburn, Preston, Wolves, Charlton and Bolton. Bright spots have been few and far between. Readfearn has failed to build on anything he inherited from Evans despite being given the support of TS to do so. His signings have been a mixed bag; Best, Kelly and Becchio have spent more time on the treatment table than on the pitch. There was the Lenigan debacle and I'm not convinced by Facey nor was I by Hyam and Toffolo, young lads who didn't really improved us nor what you need in a relegation scrap. I've held my council and tried to be positive but the number of games I have come away from thinking Evans would have got something from that. Not saying that Evans is the answer or we shouldn't have sacked him but he was a winner at heart and Redfearn is a plodder who may or may not come good.
We have all felt it and expressed it in one way or another. Perhaps we all felt that TS would stick with him when the inevitable happen but we all know it's been dire and really not an improvement. These are facts I'm afraid.
The club has taken its responsibilities seriously. They in my opinion should have acted several games ago . But, overall I'm pleased. I'm gutted for redfern but I'm pleased my club is not and hopefully under TS will never settle for what some fans have stated to believe is our lot.

Shocked actually. I must admit that I was a Redfearn supporter, but of late was beginning to doubt my own judgement. I was happy to give him time but the bad run of recent results against teams we needed to pick up points from and the ever growing sick bay list I began to have my doubts. Surprised non the less
I think the 16 cup finals statement was the final nail to a board & chairman who don't think the budget matches such an idea and that does realise the business damage of us going down. For that I'm thankful, I'm also thankful they aren't afraid to make the bold decisions. What does bother me is historically their recruitment of managers for a long term ethos is diabolical. Evans included. We haven't had an identity for years including when Evans was here, the divide between the club & support grows ever larger. How is this a basis for stability and medium term incremental forward steps? Redfearn was a player coach, in years gone by he would have to have proved himself as a number 2 before getting the hotseat, to make the step from coach to management, establish contacts and learn about group control rather than individuals. Its a shame, Redfearn clearly was not ready but the questions need to be asked of those that employ these people
Clearly results have been poor. But why would you appoint a man on a two and a half year contract and talk about building for the future if part of the bargain was that you won't last the season if we are in the bottom three? Why not give him a contract until the end of the season only if that is he case? Clubs who sack their managers regularly usually find themselves in a downward spiral. This manager was told to build the club, was too late to do any business of his own pre season, and was given very little backing in January - a couple of loans and free transfers only. Maybe he wasn't the right man for the job, but I don't know if he ever really had a prayer. The board have got serious questions to answer. Lets hope they get it right. Lets get behind whoever is next.
Shocked but not surprised. Results especially recently have been poor, add in recruiting players that have never left the treatment table, Kelly, Becchio, Best etc & a Chairman that has rediscovered his trigger finger, I suppose Redfearn's days were numbered.
I think he should have had until end of season, even though I think he has struggled, just feel it would have been a fairer approach to see if he could keep us up. However I have said it is a results business and although the statistic on win ratio was ridiculed on here it proved to be correct.
Only times I have been happy when a manager got the sack at Rotherham was when Harford and Scott the push, I understand this decision but it feels like a sad day.

Does anyone reckon TTB is Redfearn. Too many correct predictions.

Sorry Derby, nothing personal, but the stat wasn't ridiculed at all. The stat was a statement of fact. Unarguable. It was the conclusion that you took from the stat that was the problem. A bad win ratio at a club that was always going to be towards the wrong end of the table doesn't make a man a worse manager than someone say who has a better ratio but is under performing at a club that should be near the top. As I suggested illustrates that, Howe is doing a better managerial job than Van Gaal this season, but his stats are worse. I hope that clarifies the point I was trying to make, which I stand by. Anyway, I agree with you that this Redfearn dismissal is premature. Short term results have taken priority over long term thinking. That is fine if we are a club that gives the manager the tools to get the short term success. Then a board can look a manager in the eye and say 'we gave you every chance and you have failed'. We could do that in league 2 and up to a point in league 1. I don't think they could say the same to Redfearn. He took on a hell of a difficult job and has been working in a straight jacket with someone else's bad signings and limited resources to try and change things mid season. If TS wants someone to get us into the Championship playoffs within 3 years or so he either needs to sell to someone who is willing to break all the fair play rules or appoint Dynamo as boss. By the way, why the hell would you take on a new assistant manager and sack the manager one game later? Where is the logic in that? It smacks a bit of knee jerk desperation.
