Frustrating

We have gone away from home and scored one good goal and created several other good chances and good opportunities. Once again it was defensively that we were poor but whenever a manager plays one up front (which he didn't anyway - Shinnie was virtually a second striker) and the team loses that becomes the easy criticism. It isn't the managers fault that experienced defenders stood round like dummies for the first goal or that Shinnie froze with the goal at his mercy or that the ref bottled a good penalty shout. I thought we played well enough today but bottom line it didn't go our way. I get the frustration, but the supporters who were giving the players grief at the end were a disgrace. You could see how much the players were hurting. They put in a real effort today and will have been devastated. I like to think we are different to other teams because we are my team, and that our supporters are the best, but we aren't. We are as bad as anyone else. Short sighted, impatient, unrealistic, quick to turn on them. Rubbish.

Would it not be a little obtuse to think we would be different? I'm sure all clubs are the same. 20% happy clapping anything, the silent majority of 70% or so that even when disgruntled see the bigger picture and don't boo and then the vocal minority that go way over the top in terms of vitriol offered.

I couldn't tell you a club that didn't follow this model. Some of the percentages vary, but we're certainly not up there with the worst (or the best for that matter).

It's the negativity smiler. Against Charlton when we are chasing the game he takes Newell off and puts Danny Ward on the left. He's taken off the one player who can waltz into the box and create something. If he'd taken Newell off and played with 3 strikers up front and went direct then fair enough. But he didn't. He put Danny Ward on the left. He'd might as well as come and sat next to me.

Against Bolton, the club in turmoil, the club who doesn't pay its players on time, he plays Danny Ward up front by himself. At 1-1 he takes Burke off and puts Green on. Why not put JCH or Derbyshire on and go for it?

We've played the two worst teams in the division and lost both games. We played Fulham recently, another struggling team and got hammered.

We've got the players who can take the game to the opposition. Newell & Grant Ward flying down the wings, Shinnie behind the front TWO, Clarke Harris with his strength and Derbyshire with his superb runs. Give the opposition something to worry about instead of playing Green & Smallwood and trying not to concede.

Something has got to change and quickly. Redfearn either needs to change his approach or Redfearn needs changing.

I'm trying to show some character here Oneaday and defend Redfearn when we are at a low point. It's like pushing water up a hill. Give me a break will you pal?

smiler you are correct if the players try and have some bad luck the fans shouldn't get on their backs, we all get frustrated because we want to see our team win, to try to work hard and have some moments of magic. What people don't want to see though is a manager that appears scared to play positively, that fails to see his mistakes, that sounds lost in his interviews. You say it isn't the manager's fault, I am afraid it is, it always is because he is employed by the club to manage the footballing side of the club and to get the best out of the teams. the definition of his job means he is accountable for our success and failures, and I would be surprised if any manager would want it any other way.

We do need to support him and the team at the games we go to, but we are also entitled to express our views, opinions and feelings on phone-ins, messageboards and social media, without being abusive

I haven't been abusive Derby. I think that stats like the one you quoted are pathetic and meaningless. Your opinions are valid and I respect them and respect you, but the stat you quoted wasn't an opinion. If you had said 'in my opinion Redfearn is the third worst manager we have ever had' fair enough. But you didn't. You quoted a stat as if that itself proved the point, and it just doesn't. Maybe I could have put it differently. Sorry about that.

There is little point being optimistic. I think effort to put it right and improved results are the only sign.

I never see a game where the losing side deserves to win. Outside of blatant cheating which is not part of the game the best team always wins. Red fern is nor producing enough.
