Awful in every advanced area.

No great shakes in defence but I thought the midfield was bloody awful.

There was no excuse for yesterday. A team line up and formation chosen by a rabbit in headlights.

We are Rotherham United. We are used to going up and down. We can handle it. What're can't handle this s a white flag in January.

Now pick up your weapons and start shooting instead of hiding behind your shields and praying for luck.

I think it's got very little to do with the formation. I understand that when you play one up front and lose (especially at home) there is an instinct that says 'why don't we play more forwards and go for it' but we put two past Hull, four past Bolton and two past Cardiff playing 4231. We got nil against QPR playing 442. Chelsea played 4231 yesterday and could have scored a dozen. I am not advocating one system or the other. I am just saying it is more about players playing well or not however we set up. As a rule we have a goal or two in us either way. Our problems are defensive. We leak goals. It is too easy for opponents to get at our back four and when they do our back four just can't cope. A lot of that is to do with Smallwood and Green. They have three jobs. To protect the back four, to talk to and organise people and to keep the ball when we have it. That applies whichever formation you prefer. And they aren't doing it very well.

A short ps. I hate the booing, the leaving early and the over expectation. Even if the players don't play well I hardly ever think they haven't done their best for us. Even Evans said it would be a roller coaster. They have downs as well as ups. We have become one of the most fickle sets of supporters around. Have an opinion of course, but hammering them and leaving the ground three quarters empty on 85 mins helps nobody.
