Another game, another point

closer to safety. It would be nice to get 3 each for the next two games and we can then relax a little. But as we are the Millers, we probably won't make it that easy for ourselves.

Good point today, but Redders slightly disappointed not to get all 3.

Relax! I wish 🏄

Even 2 wins won't be enough for a weekend break unifier. It's going to the wire.

Haven't been today but the independent reports seem to suggest we were fortunate.

Be interested to hear what Exeter and anyone else that's been has to say.

If you are talking about the report on the BBC site, I'm not sure how impartial Dafydd Pritchard, the BBC Wales Sport correspondent could be .... for a more balanced review of the game look at sky sports report, sums up the game pretty well.  Had Rotherham gone 3-1 up when well on top it would have been game over.

Happy with the point of course. Cardiff blew hot and cold they created 3 absolute sitters in 3 minutes and went 1 up from the last of them. We were awful after 10 minutes until Newell got us out of jail with a good goal from nothing. In Redfearns defence excellent to ram the corner down calamity Marshalls throat for our 2nd which resulted in an own goal 1 yard out. But you always felt it wouldn't be enough. Im getting sick to death of this negativity away from home, Cardiff apart from the 6 or 7 sitters they missed were clueless for large parts of the game and they were extremely suspect at the back. It seemed we had no intention of exploiting that even against 10 men for 10 minutes keeping possession 50 yards from goal. Its maddening, winning 1 from last 10 away should suggest something has to change, we played QPR 1st half today and were lucky not to get a hiding purely to our setup and ideology. If you dont change this Redfearn we wont win away again all season and that will take us down. Attack away as well as home and you'll get the points by Easter - Im tellin thi nah.

And in my haste forgot Burke was a real talent on the right. Danny Ward did naff all Grant Ward is not strong enough to play off him in a 4-2-3-1 and why the hell did Newell go off for D.Ward (when Becchio came on) then to go left who did jack. Cant fault effort but manager cost us a missed opportunity of 3 points today

Pft no way - Burke stood out for me, Broadfoot and Green did ok again, Smallwood while I see his positives he too often slows our game down when it requires the opposite. I just think we set ourselves up to fail away, we give the opposition absolutely nothing to get worried about, its chalk and cheese. If we win Charlton it will be a very useful point, if we don't its opportunity missed. Cardiff are in a mess from the top down. The fans are staying away in droves and have no confidence from the top down to management. Whittingham and Noone should rule most midfields in this league but they don't or inexplicably get subbed. They've spent money and had a poor return (sound familiar) when the parachute payments stop if they haven't changed by next season will be in serious trouble I didn't think even Tan will want to bank roll. To say they're 9th I fail to see how and why.

1st game of the season for me..

Beer - watered down Braines eurgh

Stuards - Friendly enough

Travelling support - 8. About 250/300 Millers on a 8 hour round trip in the middle of a long January month. I went with my future Father-in-law (his 1st ever football match - he's Welsh) he thought we out sung them.

Camp 6 - didn't do much wrong. Nother really at fault for either goal

Facey 6 - not sure this man is a RB. Think he might have pulled something toward the end of the match

Broadfoot 6 - slipped for the first goal and got caught with the channels in the 1st half. Still fought hard though

Baleid  6 - at fault for the 2nd goal and made a few silly synical challenges. Also guilty of getting caught with their persistent over the top threw ball in the 1st half

Mattock 7 - made some good forward runs. Did get skinned by Noone near the end but made up for it with a Ronaldo "Flip flap"!

Smallwood 6 - did ok. Free kicks were dodgy and ineffective. Kept a good shape with Paul

Paul Green 7 - worked really hard and did keep the midfield running and linked up well with Burke on a few occasions

G. Ward 8 - NR was right. Definately 1 of the better players on the pitch. Think he slowed down after he collided with 1 if theirs on the right. He was everywhere and the few duff passes were out weighted by a very energetic performance

Newell 7 - Did really well with the goal. Not sure why he was subbed. Did nesh out of a couple of tackles and perhaps kept the ball a bit too long on a couple of occasions

Burke 8.5 - MOM. Great début. His age didn't show and he put some great corners in and generally was a pest. Let's see more

D. Ward 5 - Not a great day. He's a well built lad but it appears he couldn't knock the skin off a rice pudding. The way he went down for 5 mins on a nothing challenge was nothing short of a late Oscar nomination. His 1st touch was off and generally huffed and puffed and did little. He did even less when he moved out wide. Bad day at the office

SUBS

Becchio 5 - not match fit. Mis timed jumps, elbows everywhere. I'm sure he'll pick up though

JCH 5.5 - My mate who's a Cardiff fan says he dived and played the Cardiff guy for the 2nd bookable. I've not seen the highlights and I didn't see it properly as I thought the ref would have played on as we had possession and a clear chance. He did spring miraculously into life 2 mins later which made the card and resulting sending off even more questionable. Didn't really do much

Collin 5 - other than to replace an injured player I'm baffled as to why he came on

NR 7 - impressed that he went on the attack bringing on Becchio after 55 mins an then JCH. As it's my 1st game this season I can't really comment on his tactics or the change in playing style. Made a nice change not to hear the home fans take the pi55 out of our manager. NR does fold his arms. A lot. Does he use super glue to keep them there?

OVERALL 7 - we really did try hard. The 1st 25 mins were a write off and we were lucky to get the equaliser. We could have had them after we went up and for about 5 mins after the 80th. In the end we were probably a bit lucky to come away with a drawer but we earned it. I thought we tried hard enough and for short periods played half decentury footy on a slippery, brand spanking new surface

OFFICIALS 4 - Very poor, even if if they did lean towards us. Some very odd decisions and the linesman on the right from our side might as well have been running with dark glasses and a Labrador

CARDIFF FANS 3 - Angry, disillusioned and stay away. One of theirs was too busy getting thrown out for fighting with another Cardiff fan to care about the game. They could only muster an audiable song when they took the lead or when JCH "got their player sent off"

Good to see the Millers again. It's been too long. I'll be at Reading. Let's hope it's better than last seasons effort! At least it's only a tenner.

more comment; from the cardiff site.

neil Redfern: we deserved to win. we played the better football of two good teams. It was a good football game. points dropped.

Slade: Rotherham are a limited side. They will always fight and scrap-thats their nature. Games like this when you are better than the opposition wont come along much again. we have more quality. Where do you start with that? Rotherham dont offer too many threats.

Exeter: pretty ****. could do better.

Happy with the point myself. I don't care if we play rubbish and get something away from home.

Indeed Heman, we need a good centre forward, Becchio is not there yet - but looks leaner and meaner, and was putting it about a bit on Saturday , letting the Cardiff defenders know he was there, elbows etc

This was the first match for me to see belaid, and i was impressed with what i saw.

And the kirky broadfoot song is a winner for me.

All in all a good point and onwards and upwards, must win the next 2 matches. NO Fail !!!

OOh Kirky Broadfoot, you are the love of my life
Oh Kirky Broadfoot I'd let you shag my wife
