Know people think its negative but in our situation 4-5-1 is best for the players we've got. We're to open way we played 2nd half against QPR. All defence struggled 2nd half apart from Mattock. Midfield was overrun.
This week we need that bit of quality in midfield & up front. Some one who can come straight in not need a month to get match fit.
I think you are probably right T71 that 451 best suits the players we have at the moment. I don't think it is negative either to be honest. It didn't stop us beating Hull or Bolton and it certainly makes us harder to break down. It seems to work ok at Man City and countless other clubs. Barca did alright for years with a 460 set up. I think sometimes people make the mistake of having a pre-conception that playing two up
front is more attacking than one up. well it isn't if you never have the ball as a result, is it? As you rightly say it is all about what suits us best. We have looked good with Danny Ward as one up and others supporting him quickly. The only worry for me about that is that without Andreu now we perhaps don't have that player to be the advanced midfielder linking play up. Maybe if we have a Becchio or Best leading the line we need someone working closer with them as a two because they aren't as mobile as Ward is. Just thoughts. It is good we have the options. I think how we set up will depend a lot on the type of forward and midfield players Redfearn is hoping to get in.
