simple not having a manager that knows how to do man management that goes for evans, black and redfearn. They give up on people too quick, I manage a team at work I can't get rid or ship them out every time there is an issue, I have to manage the situation, the person and the outcome
I think you make a very valid point Ian. Congratulations to Oxford, but just because a lower league team beats what was essentially a Premier League team's reserves in a one off cup match it does not mean all of a sudden that everyone in the lower league team is Premier League or even Championship quality. Ryan Taylor and Johnny Mullins also played really well, but with the greatest respect to those two I don't think they are the answer to our current plight either (although I would take Mullins over one or two who have appeared at centre back for us this season).
I would prefer to assess Maguire on the basis of what he has done week in week out over the last couple of years. Wednesday clearly decided that he was a player who was too inconsistent or frankly not good enough to merit a starting place in a Championship side, and from what I have seen of him with us I think that we have simply confirmed that they were correct.
The best thing for us to come out of the Oxford match might be that other clubs will come in for him, and we won't be left (as looks possible with Halford) with a high earner on our books but not playing, or having to fork out a huge amount to pay up a contract if he moves elsewhere for lower wages.
