Goes to show nothing much changes. Not a criticism as I am happy to see them both back but more a reflection on all the limitations and frustrations some fans had in the Steve Evans Era...
Must say im a bit concerned, at this point in the season we need goals, goals, goals and lets be honest neither of these two have worried the leading goal scorer charts recently. A fully fit Bechio regaining his early career form may be a punt but the old fans favourite no, never has nor ever will be a goal machine :(
I have got to be honest, I would be a bit surprised and frankly a bit disappointed if we signed them both. If Becchio is fit (injury wise and weight wise) then I am sure he could still be a very good player in the Championship. His record suggests that when fit he scores goals. Alex Revell - I love the guy to bits and there is no doubt he would sweat blood for the cause, but I wonder if he is really what we need fight now. Instinctively I don't like the idea of having Best, Becchio and Revell on the books at the same time, but I guess it depends who else we keep/lose/get in. Lets see what happens.
Would be delighted to sign a fully fit Luciano Becchio because he does score goals in this league. And Revel coming back gives us back up and competition to Ward in that hold up player role because Clarke Harris has proved that he is pants at it.
Think they both could be good signings, scoring goals hasn't been the main problem as we're quite high up with goals scored, it's been conceding them but we do miss plenty of chances and as said above a fit Becchio would help solving this. Revell is not someone you sign for scoring a lot but does help the other problem by defending from the front and seeing out games. And both players it wouldn't hurt to have around to help the other strikers games proving they don't cost us too much. They also give us options something we also ideally need in defence and midfield as well.
Sorry Amanda gotta disagree Old Faithful does not help with defending from the front or options. As other posters have said Mr Revell will sweat blood for whichever side he plays, for this i commend and have the upmost respect for him, he cannot how ever hold up a ball, pull off concistant flick on's through balls etc to a strike partner and will lead us back to the dark days off lump ball football. He does not win the % of ball that some like to quote and those balls he does win could go absolutley anywhere. No, reports say Cardiff paid 400K for him and they soon found him out, end of the day his record speaks for itself:
2000–2004 Cambridge United 57 (8)
2003 → Kettering Town (loan) 7 (2)
2004–2006 Braintree Town 65 (39)
2006–2008 Brighton & Hove Albion 59 (21)
2008–2010 Southend United 34 (6)
2009–2010 → Swindon Town (loan) 10 (2)
2010 → Wycombe Wanderers (loan) 15 (8)
2010–2011 Leyton Orient 44 (13)
2011–2015 Rotherham United 150 (28)
2015– Cardiff City 19 (2)
2015– Wigan Athletic (loan) 2 (1)
We have enough strikers at this club who dont know where the net is, we cant afford to carry another.
Lov Alex to bits but I think he struggles at this level , Bechio his best days have long gone , we have got enough players who are on their final pay day dont need two more , if Redders is so good with young uns he's got to get to work on Jono because we can't afford to lose talent like his , also why can't he give Jerry Yates a run unless hes no faith in Rotherham young uns but risks it with other clubs juniors
