You hear quite often that it will take someone several years to sort out the mess that Evans left.
Could someone please provide the evidence for this.
The club set a playing budget and Evans adhered to this. Evans' recruitment actually improved this season as most pre season signings were signed on one year contracts. We cannot compete on wages, so Evans used the loan market, using part of his budget,to great effect to supplement his squad. The only players with any length of contract are JCH, Newell and Camp. I'm sure that most people consider these players as good enough.
Facts are facts. When Evans left the team were out of the relegation spots and performances were improving. There is absolutely no reason to believe he wouldn't have kept us up again.
I fully appreciate that Evans isn't everyones cup of tea but don't let that blind you to the fact that Redfearn is failing miserably. If we do get relegated I would hate to give Redfearn a top end budget in league 1 as there isn't a shred of evidence to suggest he could succeed.
I believe that the lack of fans through the gates is more to blame. We just cannot compete at this level in financial terms. This means we get to be last choice for the best players who know that their career is a short one and they have to get the best contract for them to set themselves up for life.
Ours isn't close to being anywhere near a competitive wage structure. I do however prefer relegation to administration.
He'd of done what he always did and react instead of responding , waste yet more funds by having several different teams over the course of the season. The club could no longer afford his way. Folk will believe what they believe.
