Now I'm wondering if Neil Redfern is the right man for the job. Amazing really to read his comments. Don't agree that he did well at left back, he was atrocious, weak and without any pace. His positional sense was also at fault time and time again. Thorpe for me has that bit extra pace and positional sense if a little raw at times.
Nigel Johnson was Breck's guest on Saturday. He is 6ft plus and very experienced, but I wouldn't be giving him a run out for us tomorrow night. What I have seen this season tells me that Danny Collins lacks pace and struggles with movement. I don't doubt his honesty and commitment but football exposes players very cruelly when they are not quite up to it. He has no doubt been a very good player in his time but time has caught up with him. Forwards lose him very easily. His experience doesn't seem to help him in that regard, and for an experienced player he has made some schoolboy errors. I am not sure I fancy him marking Jordan Rhodes - give Rhodes half a yard and its in the back of the net before you know it. I hope Kelly is fit and that Kelly partners Broadfoot. If not then Thorpe instead. Sorry, but there we are.
Its puzzling, you'd think twice about signing a 34yr old GK, but a 34yr old centre half who has to come up against blistering pace and movement, it defies logic. Every goal we concede more or less and Collins is involved or not where he should be. I wouldn't play him if we were in L2 I'm afraid.
(and I'm not even going to read the comments, as Redfearn is no doubt putting a public arm around his players)
Am I one to see this. We've got a keeper who stops on his line. That's ok if you've got centre backs who are good in the air. Broadfoot alright, Rawson when he's fit is. Collins 2nd goal for Wolves challenge, what challenge. Kelly when he's fit he's a right back.
Play Thorpe with Broadfoot tomorrow, Adam Collin in goal.
Everybody I talked to last week couldn't work out how Collins was in the side. At half time people were saying Camp should have come out for there 2nd goal. Its not just me seeing this. Hyam as got to start.
I agree about Camp T71 and I have made the same point myself on other threads. The best solution would be for Camp to get off his line even if he punches rather than catches. I'm not sure Thorpe is any better in the air than Kelly, and Kelly and Broadfoot did well at Leeds. On that basis I would go with them if Kelly is fit.
I can't understand what Redfearn sees in Collins.
In my opinion he's so bad he shouldn't even be in the squad.
People still go on about how many goals Kelle Roos cost us, we'll I bet Collins has cost more.
If he plays tonight I fear the worst.
