Biographies

I notice that we have all avoided doing one but thought it would be interesting to know a bit about each other even if not strictly a biography..

This is me...as seen through my eyes!

Born in Rotherham

Son of a Steel Worker father and School Meal's Assistant mother.

Studied Medicine following in my brother's footsteps and have worked within the NHS for over 30 years.

Made my fortune spread betting on the financial markets and lost half of it on other forms of gambling  and the first Mrs K took the other half.

Have generally working class principles but do believe that we have to take responsibility for our own decisions and grasp the opportunities that are there.

I hate to see working class folk wallowing in their 'hard done by attitude' and would like to see more of them striving to move up the class system and benefit from the opportunities that are there in abundance.

I am now retired early  wishing that i had done some part time work but at least i have time to travel and help my children and two grandchildren who I adore.

I live with the second Mrs K and as anyone can imagine to put up with me , she must be and is a Saint.

Me:

In my words:

Born in mi house.
Bred in mi house.

Dad was nowhere to be seem.
Turned out years later he'd left mi mum for a fella.

Left school with nowt.

A troubled adolescents.

Married thrice.
One died one was bonkers  never got over the one that died hence the rest of my life...

4 kids.

Work as a therapist (surprise!)

Moved around a bit (surprise! )

I'm a hater of pretence, superficiality and lack of empathy.

I appreciate intelligence, kindness and listening.

I view myself as a little bonkers , perhaps even medium bonkers. I am kind otherwise and wouldn't harm anyone unless they are a bully. Really can't stand bullies.

I love my own space but enjoy company so long as I can escape when I want.

I only work for my kids future now and regret not getting my **** together much sooner as I've ****** up lots of things and lost huge amounts of money and have been homeless a few times.

I'm a committed family mam now. Simple as.

I absolutely need my space though and that's not up for compromise. Football ( watching and talking-I am no longer robust enough due to the osteoporosis to play). I love squash and currently loving RPM classes (static cycling bikes ) and as much group exercise as I can cram in and up to the max amount of pain killers Im allowed to take.

I have unfortunately developed lots of medical issues due in part to past abuse and bad luck.

Everyone dies or has heart issues before 50 in my family and I'm just about there now (start drawing straws for the next compare of the prediction league). I have an aneurysm that is close to surgery now, 2 hernias,  Coelisc disease, no testosterone of my own, vitamin deficiency of numerous types , a blood disease, ankylosing spondylitis, osteoporosis and atrial fibrillation. I also have insomnia but thats rather helpful at times now that Ive learnt how to deal with it.

I've developed a positive outlook and press on as much as pain will allow hence the sports and working hard.

I'm very comfortable with being open. Indeed, its something thats been part of my development as a human. I may not need it for the rest of my (short.lol) life but right now Im comfortable with it. After all, I expect it from all my patients and thats often the hardest and most fundamental thing to ask from someone very vulnerable.

War hero, self-made millionaire, friend to the great and the good.  Other than that I don't like to say as it might seem I was bragging.

If this seems slightly abrasive then sorry.  However, a very great writer of political biographies wrote; "For biography to be distinct from fiction it must be verifiable."

This is not to equate fiction with fallacy.  Fiction may be based on fact but it remains fiction if the facts can't be verified.

I am one of the relatively few posters who gives his correct name.  A brief use of Google can establish my address and email and details of my career and writings can be easily found.  You can, if you're sad enough, even read some of my stuff!

Now, other posters wish to remain anonymous and may have good reasons and that's fine with me.  But I don't have any interest in reading details of the life and career of an anonymous username.  It's completely pointless even if it's true.  I know enough from what people post on here to establish that they're a decent bunch.  Sickly is no doubt in New Zealand, Exeter is recovering from a sports injury, Ian is a philosopher and Andy is a raconteur with an interest in spiritualism.  But I don't need to know where they went to school or what jobs they do.  So, in my case I will say no more than that I was brought up by wolves in Listerdale, adopted by an eccentric Armenian tribe of bohemian artists and then had the usual journey of Eton, Oxbridge, Guards and City. Nuff said.

That's me done for a bit then.

Pretty pointless trying to stimulate a bit of chat with that response.

Thanks Ian for taking part in the thread in the way I expected..

Quite an interesting biography...seems I may be naive but I just assumed that the people on here posted truthfully and I never felt the need to ask them to verify things they said about themselves...Never crossed my mind that they could be liars.

Yes, I tend to agree. I've always thought people on here have been consistent over the year or so I have been posting.

It's hard to judge the site a year on but I'd say it's pretty much the same as one year ago- when is the anniversary (or when was it?).

A few have come and a few gone but it's a good site that doesn't need to much more to make it very good. If it happens great but hats off to all who support it. It's such a nice site to use I do wish more would step up.

Mr Kid, I am happy to tell you where I live and was born etc but I didn't 5hinkmit was very interesting so I just posted some of the juicy stuff-not all of course-a lady should never reveal everything.

Unlike ridgeway I've enjoyed reading other people's upbringing and history so here's mine

Born in Listerdale but grew up in attercliffe until I moved to whiston at 10
Dad was a joiner mum a shop worker
Started my own buissness at 24 in gas engineering
26 years later it's still going
I now spend around 10 weeks a year in Spain which my two kids 28 and 24 like because they get my two season tickets.
Where do we all sit? I have tickets for the platinum lounge it's the only way mrs flicker will watch the game.
I like to travel and visit different cultures.
One other thing when I was around 12 I was one of the kids who went on the pitch at half time to replace the divots and I took the donkeys round at Clifton park, remember those things?

Born into a family from Rotherham who were all Millers. Been going since I was two. My grandma used to work in the tea bar near the entrance to the old main stand. I have a cousin who played a lot of times for the Millers in the late seventies and was always proud to watch him play - he was very much my hero. Grew up in Anston. Went to Dinnington Comp then TRC. Like very many others I thought I had a chance as a footballer but in truth wasn't quite good enough. Went to Leicester to study and lived there for five years, and played some decent non-league football while there. I loved Leicester as a city. Came back up here for work. Now married with two kids 9 and 13, both girls. The eldest is a mad Miller but the youngest only comes occasionally so as not to miss out. Mrs S hates all things football. Me and the kids used to go to games with my old mum until she died last Christmas which hit me far harder than I ever thought it would. I gave up playing football regularly at the age of about 25 when I suffered a broken neck that basically meant I was hospital/ bed bound for a few months and had to stick to non-contact sport after that. Played cricket then for a few years before taking up golf which I play at least once a week off a handicap that is nearly down to a single number. Can't putt. Joined Banter to give it a go for a week or so as a bit of a laugh, but still here and still enjoy it. I have a tendency to be a bit of a miserable git on the outside hence the code name but in truth there isn't much about my life I don't love.

Son of a steelworker with 3 siblings I became a dad to my only child at 16.

I was in the T.A. For about 9 years in the Royal engineers.

My real job was in computing. I started my own business in 2001 and have a gorgeous wife. I have 2 grandkids.

I am the eternal optimist.

What a joke.  I decided to pack in Millers forums but couldn't let this rubbish go.  Kempo has always refused to disclose his identity and even posts photos of himself with his head covered.  However, he does not extend this courtesy to others and has posted on two forums details of my identity and critical references to my published work.  It ought to be obvious to the most pea-brained that this is rather unfair but no, Teflon Kempo mesmerises the idiotic.  What a complete joke then that this same guy posts a thread about biographies.  Any sensible person would see the complete bananas irony in this but not Millers apparently.  Kempo has said it is imperative his identity is not revealed.  So would such a man of mystery truthfully give details of his background and education.  I don't know but I doubt if any judge would consider his evidence credible.  Anyway, you lot deserve him.

Kid, you have assumed that people responded because Kempo wanted them to . Some people might have been happy to give an insight into themselves (or their alter egos) regardless of whether Kempo wanted them to or has done so himself (accurately or otherwise). I don't see why you are so upset about it.
