Kin recognition and Bias

Ive been interested in the idea of Kin recognition for sometime but I am only now deepening my appreciation of the subject.

I wondered if any Banterer's had noticed any evidence of this in their own lives, or noticed it in others, which can help me with some more research.

Kin recognition.

Is not a clear causal science theory. It is socio-cultural and genetical driven theory based mainly on partner recognition via alles and Genomes.

So, what I personally look for is the individuals I am instinctively drawn to as well as noticing those who trigger a strong response otherwise: defensiveness, need to impress, feeling inferior, feeling superior, etc.

Here is what to look out for perhaps:

This might take the form of agreeing with them even when its biased.

Falling in love.

Feeling at home with someone.

Relaxation and a lack of defensiveness or need to impress.

Noticing behaviour in their presence that would be hidden otherwise.

A string desire to protect and nurture.

so, can anyone give some examples of any such feelings (experiences) that they recognise or maybe have surprised them and maybe cant be accounted for by anything other than an inherent response at a deep level.

20 years ago the present Mrs K presented herself as a medical secretary.

She was very attractive and took to wearing rather short skirts.

I immediately recognised her as non kin and felt an overwhelming urge to give her one.

Does this count?

Yes indeed.

Very helpful.

You are from the Conquering clan. If they can be dominated then you are attracted as a way of sowing your seed without too much rivalry. It may also reveal a connection to a clan that sees other as possessing  inferior traits combined with some lack in yours as mutually beneficial.

Did you have any children with this mrs K. The theory would tend to support a great desire to have them but I'm aware your age and other inherited traits would be strongly counted intuitive.

The theory seems to be especially potent in terms of longevity in your case but I am unaware of any reason for this other than strong familial bonds like this belonging to seahorses.

The theory would also support 2nd intimates who we have children with as more powerful as 1st childbearers in terms of bonding. All though of course all children represent a deep albeit fractured bond of inheritance.

I still dream about an ex girlfriend of 15yrs ago I courted for 4yrs at university, not on purpose mind. It used to be I could never reach her or see her face, now its erm a little more intimate 😐
She was also my 'first time' - late I know. She was pretty, intelligent and ambitious, but Christ highly strung, hence I ended it and had an emotional breakdown for 12 months.

I have a theory that some kinds of love can be so powerful they're destructive, I'm sure lots of people have experienced that, the ache when you haven't seen them for a while and when you say other half you actually mean it as they literally are!

I went safe with my wife, its not the same levels, but its safe hence why we've been together 13yrs had 2 children and have survived the life changes she endured with her brain injury, where many would probably fail.

I think the dreams are a wanting of a normal relationship, like everyone else has, and like we had before. But why do I not dream of my old wife? Its a very strange thing

Kin recognition is purposed at a Genetic level and worked out in social and cultural patterns.

You cant switch it on and off but, Like you say, you can opt to avoid it due at times to its negative powerful impact.

Here perhaps we have another inherited pattern kicking in, which is a survival instinct that determines childbearing choices, often opting for safety over wild passion and deep commitment. Both passion and deep commitment don't always make for good child rearing environments as the children need the sacrifice of both progenitors.

Of course the answer to the memories and dreams is multifaceted but begins at a deep level of attraction. By deep , I mean a yearning instinct as strong as life and death (your individual meaning and existence-think death bed and who you would want there and why).

This is then encoded as a primitive memory in the amygdala. Primitive here means basic responses of fear, love, survival and sacrifice. Its the kind of response that would cause a parent to kill themselves rather than a child, or, kill the child to spare then suffering. In very primitive cultures infanticide was often witnessed when resources were scarce. This was not to be mistaken for unlove but instead a deep feeling commitment to the child and its suffering. Only a deeply committed parent could reach inside to the basic instinct of suffering and love and the survival of the species to do such a thing.

Anyway, the Amygdala is hard wired where other parts of the memory system are more plastic. The Amygdala is connected to instinct but unfortunately it is also where strong or traumatic memories are stored. These include deep love attachments and survival trauma (PTSD). This is why there are difficult to reprogram, and why such strong feelings and symptoms of a physical arousal nature are associated with deep memory and especially flashbacks: sweating, nightmares, increased hear rate and breathing, panic feelings, dizziness, feeling like you are about to die, breathlessness, anger, paranoia, etc.

So, basically its an instinct and the rational human evolved mind does not like it because it is not logical, This is how in modern society we humans are stressed as we have lost touch with real life choices. Look at your pet cat for example, it retains its survival instinct while being able to function as a domestic animal due to its relative lack of brain power and cultural sophistication. It leaps away in an instant startled or into a fight one second and ready to die or kill the next. Then instantly the cat can be totally at rest. The Amygdala has done its job and the cat is not in conflict with it.

This female from you past was a fight and flight experience.

Your last avatar reminded me of cabaret voltair.

And Dada was a double play on 'you the daddy' and the name CV became associated with. It was a compliment a friendly gesture after your friendly take on my neurotic ramblings.

Lol, means laugh out loud ...

I must say this is reminding me of a chat with the missus, lol.

Now get your arse over to the prediction league and man-up.
