I can't defend Redfearn after that. His team selection is bizarre in the extreme. That was appalling!!

Right we sack NR and who chooses his successor?  The light bulb king who chose him over 60 applicants and also rated Scott as top drawer.  The rot's at the top.  TS and his family and croneys need to go.  Now.

I have never seen a team start so badly. Whoever you pick the players have got to be awake. All Ipswich did was play the channels and be bright. The game was over as soon as the second went in. It was MK Dons and Fulham all over again. The only players to emerge with any credit today were Danny Ward (I am not his number one fan but at least he worked hard), Barker (in at the deep end) and JCH (who made a positive difference). Collins and Green are experienced pros in a young team and they set the standard early on - they were a disaster. Collins nearly gave them a goal after 20 seconds then him and Green and Collins gave them 2 more within the next fifteen minutes. All five goals were down to shambolic defending. If we score two we should get a point. A big rebuilding job is needed. We have a dozen or so players who just aren't good enough. I don't know if Redfearn is either but I won't judge him until he has had the opportunity to get some decent players in. And shocking though he was anyone who booed Green should hang their heads in shame. You never ever boo your own players. Ever.

Stewart left at half time.. again

Boos from the crowd.

Redfern only has platitudes and he is sounding like a man about to walk.

Good interview from johnathon bucket. Redfern stuttering and pausing. Excuses but nothing else. It's going to take a big man to sack him but I think it has to be done

Very strange starting eleven from Redfearn ... did he actually watch the last three games?

How does he justify starting Green over Smallwood? How does he justify dropping JCH and keeping Danny Ward in the side? How does he justify keeping Newell on the bench and persisting with that lightweight Grant Ward? And Richardson over Buxton? Any body who says "but these are not his players they are Steve Evens'" please remember that the afore mentioned didn't feature regularly before Redfearn. He picks the team, he sets em up, he decides the tactics and he is the one that motivates them to get a result.

6 games 1 point for Redders. Up the M1 at Leeds it's Steve Evans 5 games 8 points.

Sad to say but we will struggle to even beat Blackpool's total from last season.

We can't be sacking a manager after a few games. It is nonsense. We laugh at Leeds for doing it. Our defence is the problem. When you go behind early in this league it is a struggle. When you are struggling job one is to keep it tight and do the basics. Richardson or Buxton at right back? Both are slow and neither offer anything going forwards. Two from Rawson, Broadfoot and Collins at the back? My nine year old could beat any of them in a foot race. Mattock doesn't look interested even when he is fit so we are relying on a kid. Camp is shell shocked. What can the manager do about any of that at the minute?

You can sack a manager when it's clear to all that's he not actually a football manager. He's a youth team coach at best who's job is to develop the youngsters.

He is so out of his depth its unbelievable.

Sacking the manager is not the answer. He isn't the problem. When two thirty something year old players who you are counting on to give you a bit of leadership and experience let you down so badly it is hardly the managers fault. We just have a lot of players who are past it, inexperienced or plain not good enough. There isn't a manager out there who could keep us up with this squad of players. The damage was done pre-season and it is coming home to roost now. I am sympathetic to Redfearn but angrier with Evans than I have ever been.

Some players were treating the ball like a hot potato this afternoon. They couldn't wait to get rid of it.

That's not football. I would describe it as panic ball.

I assume you mean Collins and Green? Green for one shouldn't have been playing. When you don't pick your best starting 11, when you play silly formations and tactics, when you can't get your players to play with aggression, passion and pride then you deserve everything you get,

The players are good enough - they proved that against Cardiff and Birmingham. They did okay against Burnley with Black in charge.

Under Crappers they have been horrendous.

You don't know how lucky you are being so far away from it all Sickly mate.
Firstly, the old pals act as regards the coaching staff HAS to end, & by that I mean Black, Dibble & Warne, we need people on the coaching side of things that actually know what they're doing. Whoever the manager is needs HIS OWN people in, people that he knows & trusts.
Secondly, get the loanees that are letting us down badly ( G Ward, Toffolo, Andreu) back to their parent clubs & get Jerry Yates back from Harrogate & Richard Wood back from Chessy & put them back in the team, they can't do any worse than this lot.
Thirdly, put the old men (experienced) out to pasture (Buxton, Richardson, Halford, Collins, Green) & see if you can find a club daft enough to take Bowery & Ledesma on.
In my 40 years+ as a Millers fan, I can't remember seeing a Millers team take to the field with so little fight, commitment & love for the club, although I have actually seen worse teams (but at least they put a shift in). Young Barker must wonder what he's walked into, the lad has genuine promise.
MAJOR reconstructive surgery has to happen & PDQ, as we're making last seasons Blackpool team look like Real Madrid.
As for Redfearn, he certainly looks out of ideas right now, maybe he needs an experienced joint manager or number two at the side of him.
This season has gone already IMO, we now need to put things into place to stop us dropping through the leagues as quickly as we rose up them. I bet TTB is loving this BTW.

Smiler, your defence of Redfearn is admirable but he is an unproven manager at this level and boy does it show. We have gone from a side that was scrapping against relegation but at least picking up points and staying in the game to a side that goes 1-0 down and its game over. Half the players that started today rarely got anywhere near Evans' starting 11 so you can't blame SE for NR's team selection. The starting line up today was frankly bizarre. His two signing are kids - ok they look like they have some talent but do you need kids when you are scrapping for every point you get? The lad Barker scored a wonder goal today but at times went missing and Tuffollo is no better than Buxton.

S8 - I'm not related to Redfearn or anything. I just don't want us to fire a manager after a few weeks. The back four is the main problem and has been all season. Is Buxton quicker or better than Richardson? No. Is Broadfoot quicker or better than Rawson or Collins? No. Mattock is nowhere and we have no cover and will only get kids on loan at this stage of the season. As someone said on a different thread recently you can't make a silk purse out of a sows ear. Green was awful, but watch Smallwood's (non) marking for the last goal and if you were still there at the end remember his pass into row z when the final whistle went. He has been awful all season. When a team is struggling the best players you have are the ones not playing. JCH is the only player who can count himself unlucky to be left out of the starting eleven today. Redfearn is like the captain shuffling the deck chairs on the Titanic but it was Evans who steered us into the iceberg.

Evans had hundreds of games as a permanent No1.

He was getting the very best out of the chairman's wallet and the players hearts and minds.

Redfern has never had the full responsibility of a team. At Leeds he was a piece of the furniture and kept leeds safe. Nothing more.

Lots of his interviews are demotivating and lack any sense of vision and responsibility.

Today he sounded almost upset and afraid he stutterd and once again resorted to blaming the players he has inherited.

This is not a man I can like actually. I really want to but I can't . Everything screams he is not in control .
