Reality check

Some on here think that we are going to re group perhaps drop a division and going to come back stronger. You are delusional, if we go down it will be many a year untill we get back to the championship, this is what history tells us. Evans got us there (even I don't know how) but redfern won't keep us there. As the games go by I sence even the players don't believe and there lies the problem, if they don't believe we are dooooomed. In a few weeks we have lost the Evans spirit so  mr redfern has to step up, it's no good saying youth this and future that because at this rate he will never see it out. Get the players playing, motivate them, shout at them or cuddle them what ever it takes but get the points on the board. Loan players beg steel or borrow but get points on the board. If and when we are safe then the rebuilding can begin but drop a dievision and say good bye to 3k fans the revenue and the momentum we have built. STEP UP mr Redfern and show us what you have. Get the boys riled get them mad and hungry and put a bit of your style in there but put points on the board Utm.

Bang on nose with this post , No use banging on about youth ect if we are relegated, we have got to stay up otherwise I can see us sinking back into mediocrity as we wont have the imputace of last five years new chairman new stadium and all .We have got to clear players out who are not cutting mustard Halford first one I think he's just here for final pay off top his pension up , sorry to say say it even got to question Darbs his job is to put ball in net just not happening , all them from S6 whats that about , think Maguires Paul Taylor in disguise .Ive only mentioned these players but I believe everyone of them as got to look at them selves and ask wether they are up to it when NR claims best player yesterday was Paul Green good for Greeny but indictment against young lads , or is NR getting it wrong . We are in a shocking state and it needs drastic action if this means ripping team apart then its up to TS and the board to start today not next week because if they don't do something very soon we will will be history in this league by Xmas

I have nothing against Redfearn and I sincerely hope he turns it around. But for people to say he is dealing with the crap that Evans left is nonsense. Seven points from four games, beating teams in and around the play offs suggested that Evans was getting it right. One point from five games since his departure and lackluster performances against Wednesday and Derby also suggest that Evans was a lot more than the players he had. We can't go out and spend millions on players so you have to compete in other ways and you have to get the most out of average players- I'm not sure that Redfearn has proved that he has the managerial talent to do that.

I agree with your point generally Fliker, but I dont get the 'Evans spirit' bit. Was there an Evans spirit, maybe in L2 and L1, but I didnt see it last season and certainly not this, but there appeared to me to be plenty of panic and lots of Evans BS and bluster.

You say to motivate by shouting or whatever to get points, Evans was slated for bawling at the players from the touchline and it was suggested by many on this and other sites that he was stifling the creative expression of players on the pitch; play my way or your out seemed to be the way. His antics during the game were also considered by most to be embarrassing.

As for beg steal and borrow loan players, well wasn't that Evans philosophy ? Did it work, perhaps to an extent, but the revolving door policy clearly had little effect overall otherwise we wouldn't be in the present situation. A few weeks ago we were all calling for some stability in the camp, but you cant build an effective cohesive unit when you are here today and gone tomorrow.

Disagreement aside, I share your disappointment and frustration and agree with you as to what relegation would mean, but even before a ball was kicked the general consensus was that we were going to be the Blackpool of 15/16 season, that was the real reality check in my view, despite the 'mid table' and 'quality over quantity' bluster.
