TB or not TB

London apparently has the highest incidence of TB of any Western capital and some London Boroughs have higher levels than Rwanda, Eritrea and Iraq.  The highest incidence is in Newham which also has the highest incidence of residents born outside Britain.  These facts are in no way related.

Africa and the subcontinent have high levels of TB. Overcrowding in major cities is likely to lead to its spread.

Afraid I can't take credit, it was a dog named in an Iain Banks novel.

I work for the ambulance service and I am shocked at the number of people we go to who, when asking about their overall health conditions we should know about, chip in with 'oh yes, and I have TB'. The increase in cases is due to many factors but the huge increase in ethnic minorities coming from parts of the world were TB is rife, poor living conditions, poor diet, overcrowding, and poverty all contribute. Not bad for Victorian, oops sorry I meant 21st century Britain

Now thats an interesting question Heman. Killing badgers because they carry bovine TB, but wait.........where do the badgers get it from in the first place, lets see BOVINE TB, BOVINE: definition- relating to subfamily Bovinae, ox like cow like, cattle and buffaloes. No mention there of badgers. So the badgers pick up the TB from cattle, so we kill the badgers.

I can just imagine George Carlin on this one if he was still around

Don't get me started on the badger cull.  I listen to Farming Today every morning and when I hear the NFU jumping through hoops with the evidence I'm hard pressed not to throw the radio out the window.
