Get a proven striker in

I know we keep banging on about this but it was blatantly obvious tonight how much we need one . Derbyshire bowery and maguire are simply not good enough for this league . Only jch can hold his head up high tonight from the forward line .

Agree Luvpud. After watching Matt Derbyshire for a season and a bit I am resigned to the conclusion that he is a nearly man. No lack of effort but not quite up to it. JCH was a right handful all night but he was fighting a lone battle. Derbyshire's biggest contribution was to take one off JCH's head first half. I don't know why Andreu went off unless he he was injured. Maguire is nowhere near as good. Too many of them went missing tonight. Perhaps Tuesday took it out of them. Wednesday have the squad to make 6 changes and we were unchanged. The longer the game went on the more it seemed to tell. Gutted.

Now we have an old plastic bus as part of our sponsorship portfolio we will no doubt have ample funds for a striker...

Next stop the Premiership!

Strikers nothing to do with it. Midfield diamond formation is a joke. Smallwood should have played. Ward never had a kick. Green gone. Andreu needs shipping back ASAP.

Sort midfield out and we might start creating chances for the strikers.

Tend to agree with Oneaday. The main issue is midfield . If we have a budget left then I'd spend it all on midfield where we need up and down pace and skill and the ability to link play in the oposition half . Our midfield is quite few yards off the pace.

Agree, our midfield lacks creativity and any sort of presence. I think we are ok in terms of "holding midfielders" with Smallwood and Thorpe, its the lack of movement going forward, with only Frecklington really sticking out as this kind of player.

Andreu for me does offer us something, and at times shows vision and quality, however he drifts in and out of games.

There is a massive gap between our front pair and our defence linking up play. That can clearly be seen on the rare occassion we try to break or counter attack - we cant because we are so deep.

No Width - too narrow in Midfield, i hardly see anybody down the right wing coming into the corner flag like agard used too.

we need good crosses into the box, from wide players, stretch the defence and maybe score a goal or two from it - far post headers etc.

if we dont sign rawson onto end of the season then we have thorpe as cover
i would like

redders to try

camp

mattock/toffolo rawson/ thorpe collins buxton

right winger smallwood newell ledesma/white

maguire jch

we need a right winger and a striker

no point making grant ward one as he goes back in jan unless we extend the loan and the loans should be for cover now

Jerry Yates will be making an entrance in the main squad soon, hence him going out on loan to get game time, hope harrogate Town play him for the full match every time.

I rate young Jerry, and redders has the contacts out there to place young talent in first team squads to get game fit.

its a no brainer, ready made striker in waiting, roll on when he comes back.

Fingers crossed injury free.

If we want a good crosser we could try to get that young ben pringle.biggrin Either that or Eddie Izzard.

My mate at Derby said he has the quality to be a decent player, however his attitude lets him down massively. Not a team player by the sound of things - thinks he's the bee's knees.
