Apologies for ranting on about another Millers' site but sometimes I can't help myself.  People on here may have guessed that the Cardigan Kid isn't my favourite Miller; in fact I think he's a complete plonk but that's just my opinion.

Now recently on MM Cardigan has been asking for some old posters to return.  His list is selective and basically comprises people who agreed with his prejudices.  Someone rightly asked wouldn't this just reinforce the old cliques on MM?  Cardigan responded pompously that those days were gone; all were welcome on MM and all views would be respected.  

Zilzal then posts in his usual roundabout way asking where a particular MM poster has got to.  This poster is not on Cardigan's list and is in fact an old opponent.  Members of Cardigan's clique immediately make abusive comments about the missing poster contrary to Cardigan's newly espoused spirit of forgiveness and bon homie.  Cardigan himself, in response to the query about this member's whereabouts, and reflecting his own hypocricy, responds with "Does anybody care?"

Another acolyte, completely misunderstanding why MM is sinking, weighs in with his analysis of the problem: the mods should have banned "troublemakers" sooner by which he meant like Cardigan posters who didn't agree with him.

The truth is that many people left MM partly because of its crap functionality but partly because of the terrible cliqueiness and nastiness.  New posters and anyone not in the inner circle are still routinely ignored.

No doubt that is true as it happens to be a sad consequence of group process. It does indeed take good facilitation and rules to stop this from happening. At the same time there are people drawn to drama and less inclined to build relationships.

I hope that its happening less and less and the reasonable posters who are mature enough to debate win through.

I still post on MillersMAD as well as on here so I don't want to say anything to rock either boat but one of the reasons that I stopped posting on MillersMAD for a while was that there was definitely a clique that had formed and there were one or two (there still is) that seemed to be waiting in the shadows to pounce on anything that they didn't/don't agree with and launch abuse at anyone who wasn't/isn't in their gang!

 

I also hate the adverts that keep popping up and covering the page when you're just about to type or read something!

 

I don't understand why people can't just post on whichever site they like though, both sites in my case, without getting criticised for doing so!

I stopped posting as much on MM for one reason and that was the appalling treatment of us users by the owners of the platform and the virus ridden adds and guerrilla marketing campaigns that they were blackmailing us into paying to stop! I don't mind adds if it helps pay of the tool but they should be in keeping with the site and none intrusive to its general use.

As for the clique - not really bothered by their antics, I post my opinions, if they get ignored, oh well! I have a life. Can't be doing with the game playing and oneupmanship - very boring and immature.

I never posted on MM. I used to view it and enjoyed a lot of the posts and posters, but thought it degenerated too often into a platform for personal attacks and intolerance on the part of a handful who spoilt the site for the no doubt reasonable large majority. That is no fun. You ought to be able to post a reasonable opinion without fear of abuse in return. Perhaps I am a bit precious, but it made me reluctant to join. I did also get fed up of the site jumping around and taking me into ads that I never wanted to view, some of which resulted in trackers, viruses etc. MB suits me better, but at least people have a choice, so each to their own.

Opening post by ridgeway sums it up really.

It has improved possibly as a consequence of the good posting on this site which has created a learning process but its clear that all the bad stuff is just simmering beneath the surface.

I still post on both sites as the negative re this site is the lack of people prepared to take part in off topic discussions.

I fully understand that this is essentially a football site but do find it fascinating to see the opinions of such a defined group on just about every imaginable topic.

This is a nice site awash with nice people but needs a touch more 'edge' to it whereas MM has been allowed to get over run with low life who spew out their vile abuse, sexism,racism and ****phobia.

Apart from the posters, MM is only just functional and each use puts your computer at risk with some sort of virus or other being implanted.

Its a shame that posters such as zilzal[ridge will disagree on this one] and IBS have tried this site but moved back...Im not sure why.

Stewart blasts time wasters thread on MM post 8 is by brin...a poster dismissive and critical of anyone not in his clique.

I mean..just look at that post which is actually a typical post from 'brin'

I then read a few more threads and the pirate fella who claims to work as a carer takes every opportunity to put out what I would regard as racist views something he has been allowed to do almost daily without sanction.

If he is indeed a carer then I would hope that he is not allowed to 'care' for any immigrants, a group of people that he attacks constantly on the site.

In my view the site should be shut down.
