That's an interesting defence of the use of nuclear weapons. It leaves no one in doubt that if you don't like the way things are going then total destruction is warranted. Imagine the japenese said **** off. Imagine what happens when the other side has them.

I honestly can't see an argument for the use of nuclear weapons either then or now. The defensive capability when threatened with total loss and subjection possibly but this was hardly the case. Each side lost people in a legitimate war.I can't see this justifies the use of a mass destructive and absolutely indiscriminate weapon. Surely a comparison is way off the mark.
