I wouldn't have too much of a problem with Clough. He has plenty of experience including managing fairly successfully in the Championship. You would think his contacts in the game would be good. He has a track record of bringing good young players through. Getting the Blades out of League 1 isn't as easy as it sounds - just ask the highly rated Mr Adkins. Clough at least turned them from relegation fodder into playoff qualifiers in a fairly short time. He also showed (in the cups) that his teams were more suited to competing against a higher level style of football. The only fear I would have would be his irritating preference to sign all his former players from his previous club(s). Otherwise what's not to like?
It was the same with Derby too smiler. His record there stands up well. As you said, he has been as successful with the blades as anyone in recent times, perhaps more so.
At Derby he brought through numerous players from their own academy and steadied a very wobbly ship. Although in his time there he didn't push them over the line no else has either.

What are we looking for?
What is the next stage in development?
Your last two questions are on the nail, Ian. Without defining those it's impossible to select the right manager. Does TS know what he wants to achieve? If so, does he have a clear idea how to achieve it?
