Taking the Kop

Apologies to IBS on MM for pinching an aspect of his recent thread on this subject.  If I read it correctly the posts on IBS's thread recount some great Millers' assaults on other teams' kops and also suggests that in the old days of standing on the terraces ours remained inviolate.

This is not strictly true.  In October 1969 we played Bradford City at Millmoor in Div.3.  City were near the top, we were near the bottom.  They played in claret and gold stripes with black shorts, played very well and won 3:2.

However, the relevant point is that we had a poor turnout that day and they had something like several thousand yobs all sporting claret and gold.  As the match progressed this mob made its way from the Railway end slowly, menacingly and inexhorably towards the Tivoli.  Resistance was patchy and futile and in a day of shame the like of which I had not seen before or since we Millers were driven off.  I never really recovered from the experience.no

Where was Keef?.......Shouting encouragement from the back I would assume.

Ready to settle down for the game now and will plan how to spend my winnings on Ipswich!
