How much better was that!!

Even before they went down to ten men we were the better team and played proper football.

Playing this way, we are definitely good enough to stay up. I know we only just scraped home in the end but we had some good chances. Derbyshire has to score that header and Rawson knew nothing about the ball that hit him. Newell is a gem and it's a shame that his shot hit the post.

The jury is out on Andreu but Ofoe is more effective out wide than he is through the middle.

JCH will turn into a cracking player.

Why haven't we been playing that way every game instead of hoof ball?

I think we were shading a cagey first half. Then a moment of madness from their keeper and obviously that had a massive impact on the game. Even when it was 11v11 though we were trying to play a bit more and be a bit more patient which was encouraging. The only downside for me today was that despite predicting a 2-1 win because my local soothsayer predicted it, I failed to put any money on it. I think we've got a good left back in Mattock btw.

Just goes to show what you can achieve when you field the right players in their rightful positions and cut them some slack to perform to their best ability and not stifle their creativity and energy by playing the type of game we've witnessed so far this season. The result is ....... a result.

Rather than have the same old bluster and rhetoric we've had to listen to so far, I'd have more respect for him if he admitted his mistakes and learned from them, fingers crossed he doesn't revert to the same old tactics next game.

Much much better!!!!
Ofoe was the best player on the pitch by a mile, pity he's not our player!!
Shout outs to Mattock, Rawson & Smallwood who were excellent.
Proper tactics at home for a change, I'm absolutely delighted, hope Evans keeps it up..............if he's still here!!
BTW, how poor were Cardiff??????????

Nice photo brad.

JCH is looking like a real striker. He has it all. Must admit , I'd wrote him off at the beginning of the season. What a very strong looking player in every department he could become.

Really like ANDREU too . I thought he looked like the right man in the right position and was effective at keeping us going in the second half. Still needs a little more game time and perhaps we will see him raise his game another 30%.

Ofoe, really makes things happen though. If we could keep him for the season I think it would be the best signing we have seen since we arrived in the championship.

Agree with all the above.  The only downside was that my carefully scripted spoof panto with Evans as Humpty Dumpty had to go in the bin.  It was pretty good, too.  I had Camp as Mother Goose singing "With a little bit of bloomin' luck" from My Fair Lady.  Oh well.

Cardiff were poor because we made them look poor.

Several people have made similar statements.  Not sure I agree.  If RUFC can "make" you look poor then surely you must be pretty poor to begin with.  Cardiff MBs are mainly preoccupied with hanging their goalie but they also make two points.  Firstly, that RUFC were a poor side (they would say that perhaps).  Secondly, (and here there manager specifically states it was his aim) they came for a point when the way to take on Rotherham is to go at them.

But for the late og the knives would have been out for the inability to beat 10 men and for conceding yet again on the stroke of half-time.

Like the panto Ridgeway.

I think slade is a good manager but it did look like he came with a fairly conservative game plan.

When it all went wrong for them he did a great job second half of managing the game to a good point but just missed out. Very good time wasting and good substitution s.

With orient he built a very solid and possession based team that pressed high home and away.

Great to get the win. I had a feeling we would and predicted 2-1 but sadly failed to get any money on it. There were definite signs of improvement. We at least tried to play more football and defensively we looked much better. However, there is a tendency to get as carried away one way or another with a single game. In the modern game it seems truer than ever that a team or a manager is as good as the last result. Of course we celebrate the win but we should also try and retain some perspective. We were marginally on top in what most neutrals might have thought was quite a dull first half. The idea from SE that we battered them when it was 11 v 11 is in my opinion typically one-eyed. We were then gifted a penalty and a man advantage for the entire second half, and won with a last second own goal. They are the facts. RK is right - if it hadn't been for the late own goal this board would have been full of people moaning about failing to beat ten men. Fine margins! So yes, great to get the win and yes, there was some improvement, but to get carried away on the back of that game would be foolish. And for SE to use the moments after that game to call people who have in my view justifiably and rationally criticised some of what has happened lately as numpties says more about him than them.

Agree with most of that, Smiler.  I'm just a bit grumpy this morning as I had to bin a very fine piece of work.  Very thoughtless of the lads popping that late winner in.hmm
