That's an answer often given by managers who know their number is up, but who aren't going to resign and lose a payout. It can sometimes actually mean 'you're going to have to sack me'. I don't much like the way the 'project' is going.

That's true smiler. However, TS , has stated he will be here for some time come what may.
Remember last season he said he would still be manager even if relegated.
If you're right ian, prepare yourself to 4000 gates towards the end of the season, even season ticket holders may not be prepared to see us humiliated week in week out.
TS did say that Ian. He must have has his reasons. In reality though Brad must be right. TS will surely not sit and watch one abject performance after another, watch what has been built so far fall apart and watch crowds (and revenue) plummet without taking action.
You may well be right, Ian, but it's plain odd to me that after all the "I don't want to be disrespectful to Posh" and "I may speak after Wednesday", the big reveal is "I'm the manager until my boss says I'm not and I've not finished here". Surely there'd have been less fuss if he'd said that rather than dodge the interview last Thursday.
I am coming back off the fence in regards evans OUT OF HIS DEPTH BIG TIME TACTICS WISE
listening to john breckin on radio sheffield he said as much as he could about evans and the other two numptys tactics and touchline behaviour.
why the hell are we play 4 5 1 or 4 2 3 1 with derby shire it isn't working we are sitting too deep LEAVING HIM ISOLATED FROM ANY COUNTER ATTACK
why didn't we play an attacking 3 5 2 or 4 3 3 at least it would have put them on the back foot.
I just cant believe tony stewart is going to watch defeat after defeat and keep this man who is so obviously out of his depth in this league
in his job
lets get a few facts on the table here about the coaching staff
evans motivator yes tactician no
raynor motivator tries but fails tactician dont make me laugh
black tactics have failed at every club
evans player selection is baffling
if he keeps collins in the side for saturday after that awful defending then it just shows he is clueless
i cant see any wins for us under the current formation as we dont counterattack fast enough on this system but this buffoon insists on it
we lose saturday then he needs to go
perhaps thats his plan we sack him he gets a payout and the compensation peterborough would have to pay is his transfer fund
Brad, we get that you don't like Evans, and that's your opinion and you're more than entitled to it.
I just find it a little bit distasteful how you are continuing to champion Evans' dismissal so vehemently given what he's achieved. We're two divisions higher than when he took over. It's not looking great right now, but as someone else mentioned, he deserves a shot to turn it round, right given past success?
There is no mystery as to why Steve is talking like he is.
he has not been approached for the job and for obvious reasons he is reluctant to express any interest but doesnt want to lie.
like everyone if someone wants to talk to him about a job then he would like to talk...it would be foolish not to...Its likely that TS has told him that he would be refused permission to talk to Peterborough.
To put it simply, he is saying as much as he feels he can.
is he interested..well he cannot decide until he talks can he?

I'll show the manager the same loyalty that he showed the players that got us promoted twice. He disbanded the L2 & L1 side & for what, experience??? If Collins, Halford, Derbyshire etc etc is "experience", well forget it.
Also, I assume you're more than happy with our playing "style"? Takes all sorts I suppose!!
I think that's a surprisingly naive view Kempo. Do you really think that just because TS might refuse permission for them to talk SE wouldn't take the call if he saw Barry Fry's name on his screen? Or that clubs don't speak to managers before they make the official approach? SE said last night that he didn't know if Peterborough had made an approach for him. Do you seriously think he wouldn't know one way or the other? I thought you were a man of the world Kempo. I would take anything any of the parties concerned say with a big pinch of salt. Or am I too cynical?
I have no idea if Evans has had an informal approach or not smiler...He says he hasn't.
If anyone had a head hunting job approach then they would want to talk even if they weren't actively interested...Evans is no different and that is why he is restricted in what he says.
I suspect that Evans has asked TS for assurances that he is not likely to be sacked anytime soon.
I am 100 per cent certain that TS will not allow Evans to talk to Peterborough on a formal basis...Of course I agree that they can't stop Mr Fry popping round to Chez Evans for a cup of tea and a custard cream.
Brad, we get that you don't like Evans, and that's your opinion and you're more than entitled to it.

Brad is big enough to answer for himself, but reading his regular posts he's as fed up with the same old same old as everyone else except he says it, I tend to agree.
With regard to giving him a chance to turn it round, I think he's had more than enough time. At the end of last season, we were told lessons had been learned, apparently not: that we would have quality over quantity, apparently not etc etc. we all got very excited and looked forward to the season....all bluster and gob sh***.
Lets not forget, Ronnie did exactly the same, steering the club to back to back promotions and once in the championship he and the boys gave it a damn good go, a bit of passion and team spirit made up for lack of on field guile and he did it with less resource and without the backing of a good chairman, and without the draw of NYS, and he did it despite having to sell his better players.
I'm not trying to make the comparison, but what I am saying is he's been cut more than enough slack, he's not anything special, he's just been very very lucky
Very fair comment Kempo. We don't know what has or hasn't happened. There have been some mixed messages which have fuelled the speculation but it may all be completely unfounded. Steve says he doesn't know anything so I will take it at face value. I am getting old and grizzly and, yes, perhaps too cynical. Of all the speculation I have seen, I think your reference to a custard cream is most likely to be on the money. I guess that they do meet occasionally in a social setting, and what else would two fine fellows like Messrs Fry and Evans possibly choose to nibble on with their tea?

Agree with that, promoted from L2 with a new ground factor and one of the largest budgets, L1 same. Last season made it extremely harder than really it should have been. We didn't go down because Blackpool & Wigan were in an absolute mess and Millwall very nearly replaced us who were utter dire.
Evans has done 'as expected' with the budget allowed comparative to those in the same league. No more or less. Where the abject failure for me is the constant merry go round of players. The only resolution it seems him and Raynor have is loan somebody else in. Different players but same old issues, same old problems. What got them out of jail before is having the crux of players willing to fight and scrap, now that is gone we've no idea, the merry go round is such he also has no idea who the best 11 are, this despite having the majority of the group for what 12 games now including friendlies? I'm sick of the berating of officials, i'm sick of the lame excuses how officials have bearing on results, i'm sick of players being out of position, i'm sick of certain favourites where its not warranted (Collins?) and most of all I'm sick that we are so utterly obvious to play against. And I haven't even mentioned the youth policy or progression of youth to first team, as there hasn't been one at Rotherham United for about 20 years!
