Something went wrong Kid! All the experts are saying we let Wales win a game that was ours to lose. It's half time in the Scotland / USA game as I type this, and USA lead. I doubt they will last the 80 minutes but they are competitive enough to be giving my hard earned cash a fair ride. Great competition so far.

Just an observation about refs. To my semi-educated eye it looked like the ref was harsh on England against Wales but I've not heard that even mentioned by any of the England camp or any pundits. All I've heard anyone say is that we 'didn't play the ref very well'. All very refreshing compared to what we are used to.

Thought the ref was ok, rugby is often ref dependent but the art is to adapt to the ref. England just made some poor choices at important times, the kick to the corner being the main one and then throwing near and not far, too easy for the Welsh to drive them over the line.

I agree with you Sickly that the main reason England lost was their own errors. We did get pinged for a couple of crucial penalties though for putting our hands on the ground as we stood over the ball at rucks, and I haven't seen any other ref in the tournament so hot on that. I watched replays in a couple of Sunday's games and there were plenty doing the same and not getting pulled for it. Those penalties kept the Welsh in touch every time we looked like pulling clear of them. Anyway, I was trying to make a positive point which is that even in a game as difficult to ref as RU, there is a general acceptance that every ref interprets the rules differently and the ref is never blamed for a bad result. At no point did Stuart Lancaster feel the need to confirm that he was not questioning the integrity of the officials!

We will beat Australia who in turn will beat the Welsh who in turn will rue their failure to get a bonus point against Fiji and go out.  What a shame.bleh
