Evans to Peterborough?

Posh have fired their manager. Steve Evans is the early bookies favourite for the job. It is no surprise he would be linked and he has said he would want the job one day. Might this be the right time all round?

He was favourite last time but was refused permission to speak to them.

Will be exactly the same this time around.

TS has learnt his lesson re manager approaches....

Chances of Evans leaving are nil.

Looking briefly at the Posh forum that is what they think too Exeter. They seem underwhelmed by the prospect. To be fair I feel for their supporters a bit. They seem to chop and change quite regularly.

Why would SE want to go to Peterborough

All sorts of possible reasons Len. He lives there, he is friends with the people who run the club, they might pay him a few bob, they might give him a few bob to chase promotion, they can only really improve from where they are which would enhance his reputation and he might think he can't do much more with us. Or any combination of the above. The bookies seem to think it is a realistic prospect at least and they aren't daft so although myself I don't think it will happen I wouldn't rule it out.

This is a bit off the original topic, but if the England job was available today Ian I think Pardew would be a real live candidate. He is English for a start which must stand in his favour, he got stick at the Toon but they nosedived after he left, he has done great at Palace since he went there and I am not sure how many other serious candidates there would be. Back on topic, the bookies aren't always right but they normally know what they are about. I have heard Steve Evans himself say that many times in the run up to games against teams who are fancied to so well. For that reason alone I just wouldn't rule the Evans to Peterborough thing out.

I'm not sure Mrs K's photography skills do me justice but she thought I looked quite cute.

Quite true, but I said it because he is tipped to be the next England manager.

The bookies run these things to draw money before they really have firm evidence.

In the reasonable future Pardew is a long shot indeed by my reckoning.  We have at least I full year of Hodgson and probably up to 2020. A lot can change.

Evans and TS said no on at least 2 occasions and SE recently declared their partnership as strong as ever.

TS won't want him to go , so, I think that puts it to bed. And I doubt SE will plead with him to let him go.

Evans is here and is staying. Anyone who hopes otherwise needs their heads checking. 3 more than successful seasons to boot.

Just feel like we are so short on thanks and patience sometimes.

Steve has said he wants to stay and TS has made it clear and followed through several times regarding their working relationship with turned down offers.

I know there is no argument to be had when its about personal opinions.

Its interesting what we all seem to value. Noting wrong with different values too.

I guess I value his and our success, his passion (greatly) and the stability that him and TS have offered us fans.

What do others value.

You would take a manager who is currently managing in the 5th tier of English Football and has so far failed to get Grimsby out of the leage in 4 (i think) attempts? Seriously? Over a manager with 3 successful years in a row (inc. 2 promotions)?

As for the Sam Allardyce comment - head > brickwall.

I think its quite simple this. If Steve Evans wants to go to Peterborough, Steve Evans will go to Peterborough.

There are so many why's and where fors only Steve Evans will know, we can speculate all we like.

If Steve Evans wants to stay he knows what to expect, despite the sound bytes, this club needs to stay in the Championship and no super relationship in the world will get in the way of that, no person is bigger than club (well apart from Tony Stewart 😃)

I think Evans will know if ever there was an opportunity to go there, from his own choosing it won't get any better than the timing of this. Despite his ties, from a football sense is Peterborough really that much of a draw, comparative to us?

If he goes, we move on. There will be pros, there will be cons, but they also apply if he stays.

The recent media coverage 'of not afraid of being sacked' seems to be a spin, someone is doing some pushing, from our side or his. Steve Evans hasn't (ever?) been sacked, or at least for a very long time, and I'm sure he won't want that on his CV. As above, whether he sees Peterborough as career progression I don't know. I'd have thought he'd be gunning for keeping us up for 3/4 years then going to a bigger club in the Championship who do have the budgets and resources to reach the PL.
