Just posting my opinion on a message board Millmoor. You posted something and I thought something different so I responded with what I thought was a fair point but apparently I offended you in the process. I've told you I didn't intend any offence and now you've accused me of being a politician! That hurts.
I really didn't mean to spin anything Millmoor but you've made yourself very clear. Sorry we got off on the wrong foot. Politics is not for me thanks. To get back to the football side of things which got a bit lost in our posts, I admit I never wanted Evans in and I just don't like his style and I can't personally forgive him it just because of the results he has had. I will get behind his teams for 90 minutes every week because they represent my club, but I don't think he is the long term answer for us. That's really it for me.
Can steve evans achieve longterm success with his style? Hell yes!
It's happening every week up and down the country.
Theres always exceptions too.
If Dario gradi, was that good, he'd have been managing somewhere else perhaps?
Surely, this isn't an either or question. It's more some of this and some of that. We can't currently do both successfully. We have improved on the youth front since TS , and I'm sure more will be done as we build. Can't build a team of academy players until we have the resources.

Those fans who want heavy investment and lots of chances for 'kids' may be supporting a team in L2 for several years. TS had to build quick to pay back his loans etc.
I genuinely wonder if the business model could work I a new stadium with little success. Just not sure how we would progress. How patient would TS have to be. The fans.
4k fans after 2,3,4 seasons in L2. Those we bring through get sold. It's such a speculative risk that I couldn't see it working longterm either.
To be honest I have no idea if I'm right or wrong on this one. I may be hankering after a lost nostalgic romantic era which perhaps never existed. I remember when we fielded several players from the local area and reading how Walsall had half-a-dozen from the same school got me all misty eyed.
However, I think people underestimate Gradi's achievements. Winning things is important but so too is playing progressive, attractive football. Crewe won the fair play award (or something) 12 out of 15 seasons. I find Evans' teams tedious to watch. Apologies but there you go.
At the understandable risk of being slagged I will say that I will never be reconciled to Steve Evans as manager and consider that Tony Stewart has allowed the club to move in the wrong direction. The template was Dario Gradi at Crewe and Dean Smith at Walsall. Nothing is being built for the longer term at RUFC and to me it is a terribly missed opportunity.
Obviously I agree. Evans shipped players out because even though they were good enough to get us promoted, his opinion was that they weren't good enough for the level above (Mullins, Nards, Skarz, Agard, Revell, etc etc). Well newsflash Steve, neither are you. A scattergun transfer policy, hoofball tactics & a very very lucky escape last season will not save you this time.
It may take time & quite a few more painful defeats, but I truly believe and hope that we'll see the last of the fat controller sometime this season!!!
'A very very lucky escape...'
Are you for real? We stayed up on merit, even after a points deduction. And don't give me the clap trap about '3 very poor teams'. Wigan were one of the pre season favourites to get promoted.
We all get you don't like Evans but don't talk rubbish to justify your views.

steve evans has brought success to the club at a price and used a high turnover of players and a a the standard tactic of hoof ball
league 2 he bought league 1 and championship players on loan result promotion
league one he bought ex championship players and a few premiership on loan some successful some not but started playing people out of position and players left unhappily
championship rebuilt the team using released championship players and premiership players on loan. this broke according to players that left at the end of season broke the team spirit. he continued to play hoofball we survived with a game to go
this season he changed his transfer policy quality over quantity. which needed additional purchases due to the bad management of pringle and morgan which in my opinion helped make arneson mind up to leave when malmo came calling.
and the point of a youth setup when none of them get a chance in the first team AT ALL
the mistakes he has made this season are in the aid of hind sight
getting a third choice goalie in ??????
making halford captain when he already had green freckington established team players
black a defensive coach don't make me laugh
we are playing same tactic hoofball
players of out position
our main goal scorer on his own up front .
a pair of supposed quality centre backs
positives changes so far
frecks captain
roos replaced by proven goalie
2 good loan signings
work to be done
hoofball not working
defense the center backs need changing if still same dire performance at charlton
no need to play people out of position eg richardson at left back when we had white on bench ffs
I for the record don't dislike or like evans. but what grinds me most is his constant hassling of the 4th official who can do nothing about the decisions made on the pitch.
