Lowther, true, but Smallwood is making some tackles he would not have made last season, he is the defence minded midfielder that did well but he is still unsure with the defence behind him, and he is starting to stack cards up already.

Ok Lowther, how about this.

Can we fit Newall, frecks, smallwood, ledesma in the midfield?one or two of them having to mop up the gaps left by ledesma not tracking back maybe, but we would be attacking with the ball at our feet rather than the longball tactics of Tuesday night.

Newall is the first on the team sheet for me, but like other people have said before, he is not meant to be in the middle of midfield, i like him wide, and this was our problem last season, we had no width, and when we get wide players, SE doesn't play them there, just packs midfield, which is not good for attacking play, and just lets the opposing team use their wide players with wild abandon.
