Rotherham United v Preston North End - Match Thread - First Half

Well, I'm ready to set off for tonight's match.

I've got a large flask of coffee to keep me awake plus some Leicester cheese sandwiches and good old Melton Mowbray pork pies.

I need the coffee rush just in case I nod off during the game. If you see me nodding off during the match just give me a quiet

nudge.

If it isn't me then you may be in trouble. But that's a chance you have to take.

In short I won't be able  to contribute very much to the match thread this evening.

Last time I started a match thread between The Millers and Cambridge United I think  I mentioned  the half

time score, the full time score and the scorer of the winning goal. That was it. I forgot to mention that there were other players

in that game. I also omitted to mention information  about attacking or defensive play, free kicks and corners.

So, if you are going tonight , enjoy the game.

If not, please connect with Millers Player and give it a go on this match thread.

I may be making a contribution later this evening.

Thanking you in anticipation of your participation.

Andy

Bowery doing a good job defensively.

Two bad decisions from ref and the preston players are real game players and halford a target for them.

Midfield is poor again.

I'd take frecks and bowery off .

PNE the more dangerous. Why do we play soooooo deep. Where's the midfield.

I'm panicking just a little.

As one or two people predicted the match finished 0-0.

Kelle Roos still lacking in confidence when throwing the ball out to the back four. His handling of the ball is improving from crosses.
Lewis Buxton was Man of the Match for the game's sponsors.
Jordan Bowery struggled to head the ball when it was played long to him.
Matt Derbyshire was used as a target man for a while but he was playing like the loan ranger up front.
Danny Collins was strong at the back. He was MOTM for me.
Joe Newell had a couple of blistering runs towards their goal.
Greg Halford also played well in defence. He moved forwards a couple of times during the game and made two outstanding crosses into Preston's penalty area.
Chris Maguire played his part but was substituted just after half time by Aidy White.
Jordan Bowery was also substituted by Jonson Clarke-Harris. Clarke-Harris made an immediate impact on the game. For a few minutes we looked like scoring the first goal.
Lee Frecklington tried to bring calm to the midfield by encouraging more passing of the ball.
Richie Smallwood had a quiet game.
Joe Mattock was prone to errors.
Paul Green came on late in the game. He too made the odd error. He couldn't stop smiling after making one wayward pass.

SE was sat next to TS for a few minutes in the first half tonight.
This also happened in the match against Cambridge United last week.
