Things you never notice

I've been using Lyle's Golden Syrup for over half-a-century and only just noticed that the lion on the tin is apparently dead and surrounded by bees.  The logo says "Out of the strong came forth sweetness" and Google tells me this is part of Samson's riddle from the Book of Judges 14:14.  You live and learn.blankstare

The Beatles' lyrics for "A Taste Of Honey"

'A taste of honey
Tasting much sweeter than wine'

Andy, this would be more pertinent to my Golden Syrup observation if the line was "Tasting much sweeter than Lion."wink

Not so brilliant as I had forgotten the Beatles did a cover version of this song.  I do remember having a crush on Rita Tushingham who starred in the film - although not as big as my very big crush on Susan George.

I noticed a lion and the bees on the tin but never worked out how bees made honey from dead lions. Any beekeepers out there ?

£720 prescription at the opticians helped.  A whole new world has opened to me.  Expect more similar observations over the coming weeks.  As to the why of the bees and lion scholars have debated the meaning of Samson's riddle for hundreds of years and the best answer seems to be "God works in mysterious ways."  I'm happy with that.disbelief
