MM: I had to laugh

GWRU, a season ticket holder, Miller for 50 years, don't always agree with him but a stand up guy.  After yesterday he makes a post on MM saying he's not too happy with some of SE's signings.  Straightaway, a mod (yes, a mod) who lives in America and has probably forgotten where Rotherham is weighs in and tells him that if he doesn't like it perhaps he should stop supporting the Millers!!!!  The irony of the situation boggles my mind.  Why decent lads put up with the crap on that site is a mystery to me.  Glad to say a few posters told our American chum he was out of order.

Guess there is no reason one can't be a mod wherever one lives but it is somewhat ironic.

Strange thing to be chastised for offering a reasonable opinion.

Although I fully understand that moderating a site such as MM is far from an easy job, the very poor performance of the mods has been a major contribution to the decline of MM.

They have joined in and encouraged abuse of posters such as myself simply because they dislike some of my views such as the above.

Abuse is normally a reflection of being incapable of formulating a counter argument and is common on MM.

It's a shame that a previously very good site has gone to the dogs.

I'm not quite sure what the reason for MM's decline has been.  I do think it became very cliquey in the last few years and the mods were not even-handed in handing out cards.  I have to admit to a certain personal animus against one American mod so my comments should be assessed with some caution.  He went power mad imo, handing out week long bans for nothing at all.  On one occasion I used a separate PC to log on and quick as a flash he demanded to know why my IP address had changed.  I had no idea those tinpot dictators at MM were monitoring IP addresses anyway.  I don't even read the site these days.

Ridgeway,

Where do you start,

1: Inappropriate advertisements especially for youngsters
2: Requesting payment for non advert access it then they relented, simple ad blocker worked well.
3: Bad moderation after Deano left the board.

MB Better place by far.

MillersMAD was a brilliant messageboard when New York Stadium was being built, and everyone seemed to be posting on there.

After the ground was finished, there seemed to be a new "clique" on the Millersmad and quite a few threads were hi-jacked by these newbies and turned into a facebook type board where the discussion usually consisted of who's turn it was to buy the beer at their next meeting at Bluecoats, Corn Law Rhymer etc etc

Tony, dead right.  One of the inner sanctum even moaned about new people coming on MM as he wanted it to be (quote)"...like the pub where I can chat with my mates."  Another MM insider actually posted that he "...never read anything posted by new members."

It's quite sad how that once great site has gone downhill in the last year or so.

Deano was a good mod on there and used to get some right abuse. I always respected his views because I knew that he travelled the length of the country following the Millers week after week. He took lots of personal comments/abuse from some posters which must have been very hurtful to him. He's now left the board and it's a far worse place for his absence.

The site will never get back to what it once was because some "posters" are intent on abusing others if their opinion differs from their own. It's a shame really.

This site has been a breath of fresh air. All we need now is a few more contributors to the forums, (without any abuse).

mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm???

I hold extreme & often unpopular views & I get abuse on THIS site including posters asking the question "why do I support the club"?
My answer to that is that I've paid my admission money for 40+ years & if I do not like what's going on at the club on or off the field of play, I'll damn well air my views!!!

To be fair Brad you do have a right to state your views. But I wouldn't say you were abused on here, challenged maybe.
