MM new look

Like the road they've started as clean, and actually works on mobile browsers, so credit where it's due. Not sure whether the clean is too clinical, it feels soulless, and they obviously have not provisioned where all those disgusting ads are going to fly everywhere. Also its very late to the party, a quick reply (wonder where they got that from), can you also post proper links or embed pictures or videos onto posts (I don't know as I haven't logged in since starting this). The fonts are pretty bizarre too but easily solved. Lots of moans across other Mad sites too, I wouldn't hold my breath expecting the system or network wide changes the members want.

Not being bias, but think they could learn a thing or 2 from other providers, this one uses Activeboard from Sparklit, I spent hours researching providers and costs etc, surely it would cost them a lot less using a provider than employing to write their own coded sites?, maybe then they could do away a lot of the data sucking, not suitable for kids, virus infested advert bombardment?

Still 1-0 to Banter in my opinion

I still contribute to MM but the usability of the latest incarnation is just appalling . Yet another bodged 'upgrade' by the Mad folks, it really is amateurish beyond parody now. My biggest hope is that all the decent contributors on MM move over to here so we can have a decent and lively Millers community again. At the moment we have two rubbish boards, one a complete car crash but with the majority of active posters still on there and the other a nice, usable and functionally rich board that is as dull as dishwater at the moment with four or five folks talking to themselves.

I've a feeling that unless MM act quickly they're going to lose members in droves, some boards like Claretmad (Burnley) are up in arms and its not hard to see why. I'm hoping the Tony philosophy of build it and they will come applies here. The difference is Hillsborough to New York, but a New York in the windscreenvansglasswhatsitsname trophy 1st round

"Yet across the gulf of space, minds that are to our minds as ours are to those of the beasts that perish, intellects vast and cool and unsympathetic, regarded this earth with envious eyes, and slowly and surely drew their plans against us.”
H.G. Wells, The War of the Worlds

Be careful what you wish for.  There's some good lads on MM but quite a few will come with the aim of taking this site over. I must say I wrongly assumed that when rich and deano did a runner the site had closed down.

Good job then that under the submit post button are 2 links, one is a how to do stuff, and the other is a what not to do & what'll happen if you do!

The way its going, there is no real alternative so if this one does go down we'll be left with nothing & I'm sure nobody including wannabe undesirables want that

Viewing figures for the Millers Banter site have significantly increased overnight.

I have been using MM for a number of years, and this one for a while. Not posted on neither for a while but, the new set up on MM is appaling, even the avatars have gone.

Maybe it is a sort of beta type before the full Monty rolls out, but I don't think so.

Terrible at the moment. I still log on to both, but I see MM ending. Shame but move on.

It would be a shame but it has been a shadow of its former self for a long time. too many trolls racists and multis with axes to grind. Any new members will only make this a more vibrant board. Some need to swollow their pride and others need to behave better.

It will take a lot to revive the once great MM.
Sadly it has been ruined by a small minority.

One of the regulars on MM wants to know where the 'off' switch is located to put MM out of its misery.

I fully understand your viewpoint; however, I feel it's wrong.  It encourages like-minded people to exclude others and leads to the kind of cliquey set up that ruined MM.  I quite like nutcases; even Kempo is growing on me.  It's all about individual opinion and, for example, I find GM quite appalling. Regimes are always most brutal as they face collapse and this appears true of MM.  Kempo was abused disgracefully for mentioning Banter by the likes of Frog and Brin.  They are definitely worried.

I don't know if your first sentence was aimed at my post.  If I had done something wrong, apologies.  I tried to read the "How to post" but gave up.  As well into my 7th decade I remain very much a pen and ink man and all this computer jargon is way above my head.

Kempo, my remarks were entirely tongue-in-cheek.  You are an interesting and informative poster and I would have sprung to your defence on MM but I vowed long ago never to post on that site.  I recently completed a three-week correspondence course on spiritual healing and homeopathy so we are both medical practitioners so to speak.
