Fear keeps them in power, look at the U.S. a nation constantly in a state of fear.

A lot of people are waking up. The politicians are repeating themselves ad nauseam.

Look at the present Queen of England's family history. She is descended from the House of Hanover. Weren't KIng George V of England, Kaiser Wilhelm II of Germany and Tsar Nicholas II of Russia cousins?
Didn't Prince Charles' Uncle Louis change his name from Battenberg to Mountbatten?

Is there any surprise that the Duke of Windsor became friendly with Hitler?

I think that the Duke was naïve in some respects.

What I wonder about the nazi salute is the fact they are doing it at all. It seems to me that their is some momentum to the idea that their sympathies were to the right politically and philosophically.

The adults would have it encouraged only if such a political and philosophical position existed in the family. There really seems to be no other reason.  Hitler was greatly admired and certainly not reviled by most of the British establishment at the time as they felt Hitler was only trying to redress the injustice that the axis of WW1 placed on Germany. Britain was alone in supporting Germany in its attempt at getting the terms and conditions of its surrender in WW1 reduced and never supported what the Americans and the rest of Europe wanted.

From this basis I imagine the Royal (German ) family were very well educated as to the historical meaning of Hitler rise to power In Germany. Remember that Hitler was democratically elected to do away with democracy . The Germans knew what they were getting in this respect and so would our elite familys.

Also we should remember that England was the one country Hitler wanted an alliance with...a shared history and genetic background that goes right to the top.

Well I personally think that it is a historically inaccurate non story.

The actual rise of Hitler and the nazis started in earnest in 1934 / 35. The movie was made in 1933. At this time they were probably also doing the Tarzan call invented by Jonny Weissmuller and had a Gollywog toy. Atrocities by the nazis were all in the future when this was filmed.

History will look at our involvement in the Iraq, Afghanistan and Syria regions as us being the aggressor when this country becomes a Muslim majority and they get to write history their way.

Perspective.

it's true that 25% of births last year wets to those born outside the Uk.

It's also true that Muslims show the biggest birth rate over recent times.

However the amount of Europeans entering the UK dwarfs the birth rate and non European immigration of the muslin population.

Also one has to factor in the amount of nominal and non fanatical Muslims that integrate fully in to UK society.

I would think there's more chance of the far right rising to power in the UK and an exit from Europe than there would ever be of a government and law based on Muslim religious and social ideas.

The Second World War was a disaster for Britain.  It was also a disaster for other countries BUT of the major successful combatants Britain was shafted and the USA and Russia were the major beneficiaries. As we entered the war ostensibly to support Polish democracy but then handed Poland over to the Soviets it's not all that clear why we bothered.

When we meet up with our visitors on Saturday the first rule should be, 'Don't mention the war'
It will be in poor taste to drag up the past on what should be a good test for The Millers against Bundesliga opposition.
