RUFC Loan signings XI

So while we eagerly await the transfer news of potential new signings, who would make your starting XI of Steve Evans loan signings?

Mine:

Martinez,

Hunt, Rawson, Mills, Lafferty,

Tavernier, Vuckic, Smallwood, Ledesma,

Dicko, Lawrence

Bench:

Bob Harris,

Anthony Wordsworth,

Connor Sammon,

Paul Taylor,

Tom Hitch****.

Any changes or additions?

Not sure about Vuckic, but other than than you have nailed it.

Is that team better than any you can make up from permanent players over the last 3 seasons?

I actually thought that myself when writing it Ian, it's perhaps a CB and a CAM short of an ok championship side.

The only reason for Vuckic's appearance is I couldn't recall any decent CM's that we have loaned that would have been more creative than him.

Evans didn't sign Pringle, so that leaves room for Agard.

Did you leave Kari out on purpose ?

I always get asked that. Well, not always but often.

I think the other 2 are better at centre half and I'm unconvinced in midfield.

I do of course see his attributes, but it's just a personal thing that probably I'm wrong on.

It was loans v permanent I think.

In any case who would you leave put for Agard?

Personally, I'd have him on the bench of the permanents.

Fair point, I reread the question and it did say permanent players from the last 3 seasons, I'd assumed it was Evans loan signings vs Evans permanent signings.

On Kari, like yourself I'm still unsure of his best position (particularly as I like Paul Green in the midfield) - I'd be tempted to move Kari back into defence next season but it's going to be about finding the right partnership. I think we know Arnasson and Broadfoot isn't working and Broadfoot finished the season well so it's a tricky one. Good to have the versatility though, especially if we're to be running on a smaller squad.

I think Arnason being moved to midfield was a key part of our upturn in form for the final run in.

He gives that added presence alongside smallwood and also another creative dimension, he always strives to make a forward pass even if they don't always come off.

Arnie can sometimes have a sudden lapse of concentration, so it's good to have a back four behind him. Likewise, it's good to have him sweeping infront of them. I really liked the combo of Arnie & Smallwood as CDMs, whilst Ward, Frecks and Prings(White now?) played in attacking roles with Derbs up top.

I felt it was a good formation to start with and if things went pare shape we can always revert to a 442 and still have options such as Bowery and JCH to come on and make an impact. We have a decent spine of a squad, just need another GK, CB, RB, RW and I think we are sorted.
