FIFA Arrests

Interesting developments this morning, several officials arrested and face extradition to the US on fraud charges.  Halle-frickin-lujah let's get our game back from Blatter and his cronies, but why was it left to the FBI to sort this?

Let's hope this is the beginning of wholesale investigation into FIFA, and all it's officials, whoever they are, this has gone on for far too long, though i'm at a loss as to why it's taken the yanks to start this, given the European power base of football.

Sepp Blatter

Silvio Berlusconi

What have they got in common?

They have the same initials of course.

Now is the time for England and all the other top European nations to pull out of FIFA. If this happened the organisation would collapse. A new world governing body needs to be formed as the old one is so corrupt it is beyond repair. This is the only way forward.

They suspect impact on their own bid, plus, the meetings were held on US soil and involved US banks.

Sepp Blatter, 17 years in office as President of FIFA. Why was he not invited to meet with Chuck Blazer as part of the FBI sting?

Sepp Blatter is innocent because his daughter says so.

Blatter gone. I'm surprised he didn't hang on longer. He probably took a bung to step down.

It was pretty clear to everyone except him until yesterday that his position was untenable - frankly I think he should go immediately and allow an interim leader (maybe Platini) to come in and organise a new presidential vote.

But if the organsiation itself is corrupt then little will change. Needs burning down and starting again, I would be in favour of England withdrawing until it can prove it is no longet corrupt. Qatar getting the cup was an insult and obviously bought. Pathetic when you look at the poor sods dying and slave labour being used to build the stadiums. Should have nothing to do with it. At least Russia can say they are a footballing nation with large fan base. Though totally corrupt.
