Sorry lads. Back burner for a bit, got a potentially life changing career change coming up. Once things settle and certainly before the season starts I'll be giving it large to get the numbers up
Well just hours after posting about interview on monday, i pulled a pearler at 5 a side. My dodgy braced ankle locked on a sprint, twisted my knee which flipped me in the air, landed and broke my collarbone! Might just be time to hang up the boots
Yeah sorry combo of phone, codeine and tired cant be arsedness from broken sleep. Im afraid of that Kempo since its same leg that I ripped my ankle up on, in fact it was said ankle which 'locked' causing twist & fall. If its ligaments it will be time to give up I feel
I am still playing 11 aside at 51, plenty of years to go for you.
Thats impressive.
I thought I did well to play 5 aside well into my forties.
Unfortunately playing sports for many years tends to catch up with you...now well and truly fuc ked in a non biblical sense with a permanent groin problem[3 operations and countless pain clinic procedures later]
Would I do it all over again?...just wish I had the chance!

yes impressive indeed.
...same here, I packed in for good 4 years ago age 45 after many a bad injury and recovery. over the course of time I snapped both ankle ligaments and broke a leg, several hamstrings and a collarbone, but was young enough to recovery over many years.
I then was having somewhat of a renaissance in my late 30s and early 40s before I snapped my anterior cruciate. Try as I might and I employed a personal trainer for 1 year at a huge cost as well as using all the skills I knew from my own profession, it was all to no avail. Very depressing indeed to have to stop but the pain from this and now akylosing spondylitis, low testosterone was too much for an aging body and mind.
In truth, from age 38 onwards it was a daily battle and I should have hung up the boots much earlier and perhaps I wouldnt be in as much daily pain as I am today.
The one very positive thing when the bodys gives up on you is how much time you have to use your inner mind and body to refresh and heal all the torments of the years spent as a slave to the hormones of a young but rudderless body/mind.

Must admit every game is one more that I ever expected to play. There is a strong Masters league here with 5 divisions of ten teams. Our youngest player is 36 and the oldest is 64!!!. He used to play for Worksop Town and is still good value. We are currently in Div 2 but struggling a bit this year. Great fun though and just waiting for that final injury. :)
I obviously should reserve judgement until I heal. As you know it looks bleak when at this point. When you add in the wife cant drive anymore, has 2 young kids and a useless teenager to deal with it all seems very selfish and stupid for the sake of 2hrs exercise kicking a bag of wind about 3 times a week. If I've done knee ligaments on the same leg from a poorly fixed ankle episode I think it will be too much risk. This happened all cos my crap ankle locked. Good to see conflicts from you guys tho, ie 1 saying if I could play again i would versus long term issues suffered long after playing days are over. Its a conundrum!
