I was thinking about you on Friday and thought, "I wonder where John's gonna be this weekend?"
Shame about the result (no goals) but at least you had some gorgeous weather up there in Lancaster mate!
It's good to see that some Darlo fans are sticking by their side through these bad times!
I don't like to see an ex-league club sink so low like that, and when I think back to some great away trips up to Darlington it really makes me thank God it's not happened to us!
That Lancaster ground is a bit "basic" Zip, no better than Parkgate by the looks of it!
I really liked the Ground though, and would put it well above Parkgate's.
The catering was spot on, the main stand was excellent for comfort and viewing. (Despite a few supporting pillars)
Great bit of terracing behind one of the goals.......always strange these days when you see pints of ale being supped on terracing at Football matches.
The whole place felt really homely and i didn't feel like i didn't belong, which you can get at some Grounds.
Everybody i spoke to were more than friendly, including a bloke in the office (Portakabin) at 11.30 when i called in at the Ground to find out what's what there, as he gave me a full run down on all amenities and stuff once the Ground opened.
I went in Wetherspoons for a brekky when i first arrived just before 10....had a walk round the exterior of the Castle which can be seen in some of the pics, and a walk round the City Centre.....had a great chill out in a beer garden (Merchants Bar) in the lovely sunshine for an hour and an half which was full of also very friendly Darlington fans, and the whole City just had a warm welcoming feel to it.....and Ground just 2 minutes walk from Train Station......Sorted.
