Good performance all round!

Once again but for a sharper finish we could have sealed this game v Brighton by a number of goals.

Green, bowery, ward  and Lafferty all going very close.

At the other end great play from broadfoot and rawson kept their clear chances to a minimum.

Great support and attacking play from Hunt and Lafferty and goid support generally all over though somewhat suspect down our right at times.

Solid when Brighton had posession and a threat going forward.

A professional, determined win.

Must be me. We scored in the 1st half they didnt. Apart from Green doin the usual get in a great position and fluff it the 1st half was a none event. 2 poor teams trying to not make a mistake. Then they take O Greedy off who was woeful, and for 20 minutes we got battered. How we can have Arni, Smallwood AND Green in midfield and be so overrun is scary & worrying. Green & Bowery subs were 20mins too late for me, either Evans was happy with what he was seeing or he didnt know what to do to stop their wave upon wave of attack. Had Martinez not so superbly saved that match winning 1 on 1 we'd have lost that. In the end it doesnt matter we need 4 points from somewhere anywhere in our rmaining games and I think that will be enough.

I know what you saw Ex but I think its just two different opinions.

We played to a script is how I saw it and that would be right for me. When we needed to concede possession we dropped off and when we dominated we supported very well 90% of the time.

It would have been slightly knee jerk to swap anyone around 65 minutes as everyone on the park knew their man and position and the game was still nicely balanced with us 1-0 up. I saw the same as you but would have stuck it out similar to what evans did. Taking Bowery off was okish because he had stopped being a threat upfront and was not getting back after he moved centrally. Ward was then the best option. In my way of thinking bringing anyone else on throws a huge unknown into the game and potentailly unsettles a balanced contest at that stage. We were bound to have a several minute spell when they were getting behind us and throwing balls straight down our throats but thats not the time to change things for me.

The 1-1 with Martinez was because thir forward pushed the ball way to for forward and after initally looking through on goal he fluffed it big style and I actually thought Martinez did well toi stand up and then come out but perhaps should have easily held the ball. I think it was a mistake by the forward.

Remember that on balance we had at least 4 gilt-edged (just the ball and keeper to beat) chances and only one of them fell to Green. I d also say they had maybe a couple half chances but nothing like ours.

For me it was a commanding display that was hard fought and apart from 10 minutes (which is pretty good) we were much the better side.

I got up to listen on player and while I am chuffed with the result it sounded in the second half that they pounded us. Of we dont improve for next year I fear it will go badly. Credit where it is due today sounded like they battles all the way.

I hate to go on Sickly, but they were pretty much battered. They had one shot on target. Not a significant Goal threat. First half were 3 clear goal scoring chances. 2nd Half we had another 3 chances on goal and hit the post.

The Brighton forums are full of how battered they got today and what a woeful threat they were going forward.

Hard to get a full picture just listening, probably my nerves as well expecting to concede at any moment. First ten mins of second half was stressful to listen to.

If we had gone in at half time 3-0 up it wouldn't have flattered us. Bowery might have scored with his headed chance, Green should have definitely scored with his chance. Yes Brighton came into it more in the second half but all in all it was a decent all round performance. Evans picked the right side for the job and made the right substitutions at the right time.

Basically we conceded the two thirds of the pitch away from our area for long spells but dominated the third that mattered. On the break we were very good. 3 points deserved.
