Unbelievable in this day and age, hope he gets better, this is getting more and more prevalent, the spectre of hooliganism is once again raising it's ugly head.
Yes I hope he pulls through, you have to feel for his family and friends.
The Thugs who did this were in bigger numbers and probably wouldn't say Boo to a Goose if they were on their own. I hope the cctv helps to trace the "people" responsible and put them away for a long time.
It's just a small sign but I notice more and more fans standing up at matches. A sign perhaps of an increase in arrogance and thoughtlessness.
I don't think you can make that connection though Ian, i will always prefer to stand, even though i'm an old git at 48, ha, if i am not blocking anyone i'll stand, if allowed. It's different prospect if people just stand where they want with no thought for others, of course.
Just seen the Villa pitch invasions, along with our smoke flare gang, Millwall fans etc - is the underclass rearing its head back into football?

Not sure it's class but probably got something to do with self awareness of which no class has a monopoly - ask prince Philip if you don't believe me.
On a serious note the fan base is influenced by background and by the environment the team plays in. Some serious whipping up of emotions were contributed to the villa game:
Local derby
Both managers (both very vocal and demonstrative)
Manager in general; in recent months we have had pardew, Allardyce, wenger, Bruce, pearce, poyet...All being aggressive and violent.
Wembley
Professional players behaviour week after week (most recent spitting)
The whole game does not set sufficient standards and for that matter neither do our politicians or police force.
