Are the new style football boots letting our players down?
Is this one of the mains causes of the goal drought?
I have studied this for quite some time now.
Well, for the past hour or so.
Question is, do players score more goals with the black leather or with the fluorescent coloured football boots?
Or, is there no difference?
My thoughts are that the fluorescent coloured football boots tend to have a smooth surface and there is not much of a firm connection with the boot and ball whereas the black leather variety tends to hit the ball more firmly without much slippage.
I'd go with the black leather football boots every time.
I know a lot of players might be laughing nay, wetting themselves at this thread.
All I can say is, continue to wear the multi-coloured boots at your peril.
But remember, black leather shooting boots are a must in every players locker especially if you are a striker.

Have to agree I still play masters football other here and I refuse to by boots other than traditional black. Problem is is that it is becoming harder to find them. Youth of today tsk.
The main difference is weight. The new boots are like tissue paper so theoretically you are faster. It's nonsense. As a polymer it has little going for it. As you rightly say it skids off the ball and offers no protection to the metatarsals.
My cousins son is Ryan Taylor and we compared boots. He laughed his head off at my clunky black ones, saying they were heavy. I smiled and pointed to his moon boot and said that wouldn't have happened with these on.
Playing myself 3 times a week & also being involved with youth football you see how style has overtaken function. The only things (Nike probably the worst) et al are missing are the go faster stripes. They'll do anything to market those boots.
I have 2 pairs, one black that are pink underneath (forced buy as they were the only one of that type they had in the shop at the time), and the other are all white Adidas, like the old mod 90s trainers. My lads grass boots are Pink, his Astros are Purple! - generation difference.
I've always preferred boots with loads of padding - when black was the only colour back in the day, Umbro were best for this. They were comfy, you couldn't feel the studs, and cos of the padding a laces shot just felt more natural. Now as it says above it's like wearing tissue paper. I only do indoor, but I imagine those that play on grass regular probably have to buy a new pair every 3 months! - they are designed not to last - it's not economic sense from the company point of view (pretty much like anything else!)
Always had a things for 'patricks'. Yer know what I mean!
Hated all things puma after bring let down by a very attractive and expensive pair of grass cats. Never bought anything puma again. Terrible attitude, but there it is.

So Pringle scored first wearing those bright fluorescent coloured boots. I'm glad he proved me wrong.
