Dear old Kim Fowley, music business shyster, scamp and the man who created the all-girl group "The Runaways" has died. He also gave us B. Bumble & The Stingers's "Nut Rocker".
Kim livened up the LA music scene, always enthusing about something, always a new scheme or idea to push (often pinched off someone else).
Sugar T, that's really sad to hear, the man was certainly a character and indeed a scamp but always made his presence felt. I must admit that I quite liked Nut Rocker, but that speaks volumes regarding my choice of music.

Kim was a striking bloke (very tall, thin, gaunt) and hustled the all-girl group The Runaways to Warners [WEA] in 1975 but they went to Mercury with that great single "Cherry Bomb" coming out in 1976.
Warners also had that great Jonathan Richman single & album "Roadrunner" in 1972 in demos cut by John Cale and hustled to us by Kim Fowley but never put it out, only to see it be a hit on Beserkley a few years' later. Not Joe Smith (A&R Manager) & Mo Ostin's finest hour.
CTMiller commented to me that just left Rodney Bingenheimer left of the LA 'personalities' but Rodney is a hustler, an early spotter of trends and acts and a bandwagon jumper. Kim actually created stuff.
Maybe this will prompt a book on Kim's role in music, particularly as he can't sue now!
