I've tried to stay optimistic this season, but realism has kicked in during the last month or so. I fear the worst, but sincerely hope I'm wrong. These new players had better gel quickly, but I still can't see a settled eleven starting anytime soon.
I looked at Jan / Feb / March around Christmas time - and I'm afraid that will be the time we get buried in the bottom 3. Whether we have enough to get out in April who knows - balaclava's anyone?
is it only me who thinks theres points to be had in the upcoming fixtures? Im quite upbeat about our chances v the likes of Bolton, Blackburn, Charlton etc. Against the likes of Bournemouth we will struggle, we knew we would be up against it v the better teams this season but we have to play everyone home and away and if at the end of that we are in the bottom 3 then so be it. But until we are relegated lets give it a go and see what we can do, who we can upset and enjoy it.
If, and thats a big if, we are going down then lets go down fighting.
I found yesterday quite entertaining. I think sammon is better than revs but was pooped after 60 mins. We had a new side gelling and I saw an improved side. Personally I think the answer is to put Arnie in midfield and use someone else as cb.
Remembering that 4 th from bottom is a success I took enough optimism from yesterday where we were playing against the best team in the division and a poor ref who thinks diving is a necessary and acceptable part of the game. I have reason to be optimistic that we now finally have the ingredients of a side who are capable of staying up. The question is can Steve mix and bake them right.
I say ingredients...
Ham mil
Green s
Pringle s
Sammon
Frier t
Collin for a takeaway
I can see us drawing against Bolton and Blackburn = 2 points
Win against Charlton = 3 points
Against Ipswich, Derby, Wolves and Watford Nu points = 0
Then we will be in the bottom 3
Even if only as a sub, I would like to see Prings in his old position, whipping in crosses. Just to see if Sammon can get on the end of them - or anyone else of course. I am hoping Sammon can improve his fitness and stay the full 90 mins. Then we can judge.
Still want Arnie in Midfield - makes too many mistakes at back when in possession of ball - did it again several times on Sat. If we bring in a CB and a goalscorere we then have options for tactical changes. Exactly what AFC B did on Sat.
Thought our bench looked weak on Saturday. Liked Conor Newton when he came on - had fire in his belly and prepared to get in their faces
