Signs on loan until the end of the season.  Judging by his style he seems to be the replacement for Revell.

Welcome to the Miller's Conor.

Good target man in the style of Revs, never scored many goals apart from his stint in Scotland. This is a player who has commanded substantial transfer fees in the past, so somebody thinks he can do the business. Maybe not the goal scorer that the fans were looking for but give him a chance. Let's face it one of our rivals in the relegation battle wanted him, and Steve beat Huddersfield Town to clinch the signing. This could turn out to be a good bit of business, give the lad a chance to prove it. Welcome on board Connor.

I have a sneaky suspicion that this could be a very astute piece of business.

With Hammill n ward n Barmby we have more mobility from wider areas and deep depending...He is certainly in style of revs so no problem with that.

It's chess- not draughts.

Like Revs, Sammon will bring more to the Team than just goals. He could be the missing piece to the puzzle that makes the others click?

It's all about opinions. Mine is different to yours guys. Of course all will give him support but if some believe that Conor Sammon is Championship quality then I think you will be proven wrong.

Nothing against Conor at all but for me it is an out and out goal scorer we need and in Conor we do not have this.

He may be like Revs but that too is limiting in this league. Are we now going back to hoof ball?

For me, just another scatter gun signing, on loan, for a player who can't get a game. Of course he will come to Rotherham Utd. Why wouldn't he?

Will he score goals or will we score goals because he is here?

My guess is no and that's my opinion.

Different to all you on here but I will be glad to be proven wrong

Millers4ever you and a good few more appear to be under the impression that a team will loan us a prolific goal scorer or that we have the millions and yes several millions is what it takes in this division to get the type of player the baying fans want. Well guess what we don't have the money, no i can't believe it either, get your cheque book out tony they shout and at the same time moan about cup price tickets. At the start of the season we all said fourth from bottom would do, after all we arrived in this division too early and surely this season is survive to build on. But instead of fourth from bottom we are fifth from bottom exceeding expectations of fellow teams, supporters and bookmakers. Still they shout Evans out, get rid of revell the team is in tatters. We have a new signing and already other web sites have pulled him to pieces the majority never even watched him play. Can supporters really not understand that we don't yet have the financers required, that we are still at the beginning of our new era. But hey I'm sure the moaning, groaning and abuse of the manager and players will spur the team on and just in case we take a battering from the team closing in on the premier division with there experianced championship side lets boo them off , what do you say, it's sure to help.

Good to get it off your chest
No offence to you millers4ever intended

My expectations of this season weren't / aren't high.  I fully realise what we're up against on & off the field.  I also realise that to finish 4th bottom, which would be a massive achievement by the way requires an average of a point a game, or 1 win and 2 losses in every 3 games.  At the moment we're doing that.  I don't expect us to go out and buy name players, neither do I expect brazil football every week.  I think what grates a lot of people is the perceived waste of very little resources we have.  SE and PR have been in this game a long time, ok not in this league, but it doesn't matter the format is always the same.  That format is not buy 15 for peanuts get maybe 1 or 2 that do a job (no more no less), then hammer the loan market to fill the resulting gaps for the 13 or 14 that flatly fail.

Imagine this - you've got 10 grand to spend on a car or two or three, for your business.

You open the autotrader.

SE's way: buy 10 cars at 1k each hopefully 1 or 2 will do the business, the rest will be crap and either scrapped or sold on for very little.

The other way: RESEARCH, test drive, check out the history, you might spend a bit more knowing that you get what you pay for so you buy 3 cars at 2.5k each and bank the rest.  the 3 would most likely end up being just the job, but as is always the way with these things, contingency when one head gasket goes, you get rid of it for peanuts but still have a handsome 2.5k left in the kitty to do something decent about it.

OK I know this is tongue in cheek - but do you see the point? - I will never boo one of our own players while they are trying to do their job but I'll certainly rip it to shreds afterwards & welcome anyone who wants to defend themselves to actively do so.  That's football - it's all about opinions!

I wish Conor all the best I really do, but I won't be surprised if he doesn't pull up any trees & therein lies the problem

I think we cant be too quick to judge until we have seen the shape of the team and how it performs over several games. That's just the way it is.

Whether of not the gaffers (TS andSE) have the correct policy can only be judged on results. Thus far there is only one conclusion - we are outperforming what our financial and experience base suggests. Therefore, I conclude there can be no issues about lack of performance from those at the helm just yet.

The end justifies the means, especially if the end and the means equal More than the sum of their parts ( avoid relegation). If we stay up its quid pro quo.

Thanks Exeter, your points are my points really but put over in a better way.  I know we don't have the finances of others but the points you make about spending what we have are spot on.

Like others I want the absolute best for what we have
