Don't get me wrong - I think fees and wages in English football are grossly inflated. However, we are where we are. If RUFC want to survive, let alone prosper, they have to compete. The current policy of sticking plaster loanees is inherently doomed: Lawrence is a case in point; the team are starting to play through him and Whooooosh - he's off. Lots of posters rightly applaud the chairman's financial prudence and in a perfect world they are right. But in this world it leads back to League 1. You can't attract top players and just as important you can't retain them Alf, Grabban, Dicko, Agard etc.
Please don't tell me I'm correct. I'm not used to it and worry that I will lead people astray. My general observation is that RUFC seems to lack a clear narrative. Occasionally the Chairman mentions a punt at the Prem but as soon as a player strings a few decent games together he's shipped out to be replaced by 3 or 4 bench warmers. I just find the modern game so confusing.
