I think Eoin will be on many a manager's shopping lists in the January sales and he will go to a Championship side for big ,money. It just depends who will be prepared to take the £1m+ gamble on a player who has had one good season. The £750 + Bowery may appeal to the Chessy boss but who knows when agents get involved.
We need to start making some high value signings or we will be falling through the trap door back to playing the likes of the blades, donny and tykes. Doesn't bare thinking about does it?
Our current strategy just isn't working at all. A new way of thinking is required. Doyle could well be what we are looking for. Unfortunately it's gunna take some big money signings to make the difference.

I agree, but he ain't got much pedigree.
If we are going to spend that kind of money I'd prefer to offer Norwich up to a million for Becchio and see if we can agree personal terms. I think he would represent more of a certain return in terms of goals for the next 2 years. I agree, we are panicking a bit, but we all want to get past the hurdle of the first season

Agree with both. Perhaps though the message is becoming clear. We have no choice now but to a) Spend that sort of money or B) Accept we are likely to be relegated.
My point isw which is the most expensive. This club has momentum at the moment and with an increased capacity to 16,000 which would be almost self funding, my choice is to spend.
Some good points here. Unfortunately there are no easy answers particularly for a club like RUFC which will inevitably be one of the smaller clubs in the Championship competing against an elite that regularly get 20,000 plus, several of whom are further boosted by ludicrous parachute payments.
It is quite easy to construct a business case for RUFC existing as a L1 outfit with regular projected crowds of around 7-8000. The alternative is higher risk and requires both an increase in ground capacity (and hopefully bigger gates) and more spending on players and wages. I think the chairman has to make a decision and communicate honestly with the fans.
Btw, I don't know what other posters think but my 'back of a fag packet' estimate is that relegation in terms of reduced league payments and lower attendances would cost the club around £4m a year.
